First of all:

That 2 Things Meme! )

So, I'm finally home! I got in a little after midnight today, and stayed at my sister's place for the night. Then I got up today, got a ride to the airport, shovelled out my car and headed back here. I possible could've gotten up earlier and made it back for work this afternoon, but I really, really needed the rest. I think I'll be going to bed earlier than usual tonight too, since I'm still feeling sickish. Bah.

Other than that, not a lot is new. Yesterday was just a loooooooot of waiting, and luckily our flight left. The 7:40pm one I was put on (after all the frustration from my last post) was delayed, but they wouldn't cancel it thankfully. They held off for a few hours and at 10:00pm or so we were off. It took a lot longer than usual to get our luggage and to catch a cab, but no complaints from me. It would've been nice to meet up with a few people today but the weather was supposed to get bad, so I had to leave sooner than I would've liked to leave.

Hockey is on tv now so I'll go watch that. It's weird watching it on tv after the awesome experience that was Saturday night. Especially with the commentary! But yeah, maybe this'll help cheer me up a little. And getting through tomorrow ok will be a big help too, so let's hope that happens, hehe.

Well, things have changed a little. I've been hanging out all over the airport since I got here at 6:30am. They gave us a 1-800 number to check for rescheduled / added flights every now and then, and I've been calling every 45 - 60 mins. I didn't get anywhere with it until 11:40am or so, when this lady was like "Oh yeah, there's an 11:55am flight! I'll cancel your Thursday one and put you on this." Which is kinda pushing it time wise, hehe. I asked her if it was ok, did I still have time to check in and all that, and she said yes, so off I run. When I get to the express check-in, where you can just enter some ID / numbers and get a boarding pass, it doesn't work. I just think it's because I literally just got off of the phone with this lady and it's not updated online yet. So I ask an agent there and she informs me that it's way, way, way too late for the 11:55am flight.

I was pretty exasperated by this point and went on a little rant about how I've been there since yesterday and this lady on the phone told me I could get this flight and could I please get put on a fucking airplane out of here? Ok, I didn't swear though, but I was kinda cross, for me anyway! She was nice though and by the time we were done I had a ticket for 7:50pm tonight, which is almost as good really. Even if I left this morning like the idiot on the phone told me I could (this agent printed out a report to file with her supervisor since I was given totally wrong info), I'd still have to drive home and wouldn't be able to work anyway. So if I can go tonight, which I'm seriously not getting my hopes up as I eye the forecast, it'll be ok. I can stay at my sister's place, drive back tomorrow morning and possibly go to work in the afternoon. Much better than flying out on Thursday, which would make it impossible to work until Friday really.

The whole situation with the agent ended well, since I might get out tonight maybe and 'cause she was kinda pissed too, not at me but at the idiot who switched my flights. I mean, it was impossible for me to get this 11:55am one, and I shudder to think what would've happened if during the time I switched that I couldn't even get the Thursday flight back. -.-;; But yeah, it ended well, but after I left and went to have a seat in the waiting area. I think I pretty much had a panic attack or something then, it took me about 15-20 minutes of deep breathing and concentrating just to stop feeling like I was about to burst out crying. It's all just been such a pain in the ass, to put it mildly. Then there's all this work stress and personal things that I don't tell anyone about (one because of confidentiality / privilege, the other... just 'cause, heh) and the fact that I'm eating into my vacation for next year, it's just... I don't know, just thinking about it again here is making my throat feel tight. Dammit, I hate feeling like such a wuss or something, heh. I think part of it was thinking that it'd be good to have someone there to just lean against or tell me it'd be ok, but there's never been any such person and likely won't be, which is a whole other line of thinking that I should also be avoiding right about now. XD

Anyway! I think my sleep is just so messed up. It's irregular at best when I'm not traipsing around the Northeastern USA and the Maritimes, but it's been much worse lately. When you start off staying up for pretty much 40+ hours straight (with a short, short nap roughly in between), things can only go downhill from there. Time in Boston varied from that marathon beginning to a huuuuuuuuuuuuuge sleeping in, then an average one, then up super early omg to get to the airport. Then it's been erratic here with trying to catch a goddamn plane, so yeah, that's taking its toll on me now. Thankfully this will be a short, short work week.

The one good thing about all this is that these last 3-4 LJ entries? Have been about the longest ones I've ever done, hehe. Though it's mostly bitching and whining, so that's probably a bad thing and not a good one. XD I did pick up The DaVinci Code on paperback today, which just came out today, to read on the plane. I've read the first few chapters, seems ok so far. Other than that... yeah, not much new to report. My throat is still sore, and my appetite is still down too. You can ask [livejournal.com profile] everyoung, I don't think I completed a full meal while in Boston, which is weird. Even last night I didn't eat the whole thing I ordered when we were out for supper here in Halifax. I think something's wrong with me but I have no idea what. Which leads back to the whole everything stressing me out thing and what I shouldn't be doing, so yes, stopping that now.

And I guess that's about it. This is probably extremely discombobulated but I'm too lazy to read it over and check. XD Sorry if it is!

canadiandiamond: (Blah!)
I'm still stuck in the airport, though luckily I did get a hold of my friend yesterday. She picked me up here ~2:30pm yesterday (I got in ~11:00am for those keeping score) and was with her and her boyfriend all night. We went out to supper and saw The Inside Man, which was an ok movie. Then I went to bed to get up super early this morning, to get all the way back here for my 7:25am flight. Which was delayed until 8:25am, and shortly thereafter was cancelled. The other flights out of here are cancelled too, and there's no more openings until Thursday. As in not tomorrow, but the day after. Also as in one week after I started my trip, which was supposed to be a long weekend thing. >.< It's hard not to be pissed off as all hell, but if the weather's bad they can't fly in, it's as simple as that. And I'm hoping they'll add more flights for later today or tomorrow, which they might do. Especially since 4-5 flights were cancelled yesterday and all of them today, they'd better add some for tomorrow! I have to call this 1-800 number every now and then to check in, the worst case scenario is having to wait until Thursday.

I honestly don't mind the missing work part, kinda. Not that actual work anyway, though I know it'd be much better to finish some of the stuff I have waiting to do so I can move on to the other ton of stuff left to do. The worst part is that this is eating even further into my 2006-07 vacation time. If I'm here until Thursday and miss that day too, I'll have over 1/2 of next year's vacation used up all fucking ready. I'm stressed enough about stuff as it is, this was supposed to help alieve that, not make it worse. :/ I pretty much had a mini panic attack last night and couldn't get a hold of anyone on the phone to help calm me down. Instead I left messages and made a phone post, then tried to sleep. It was really hot in the room, and I had a headache and heartburn, plus my friend's cat was meowing and making noise all night too. And on top of it all, my throat was all sore when I woke up today, and it's still bugging me now. That's all I need is to get sick on top of all of this shit. I think the universe is trying to tell me not to visit [livejournal.com profile] everyoung or the USA again, which I really hope isn't the case. I plan to anyway, so :P to the universe regardless.

Anyway, I should go and let someone else on this machine, and also see about calling my friend and checking with the damned airline again. I really, really hope I don't have to stay here until Thursday. Best case scenario now is miraculously flying home tonight sometime and driving back tomorrow morning, perhaps working in the afternoon. Either way, today and tomorrow are likely washes, 2 extra holidays I won't get. I think the boss might be good enough to let me bank that time again, seeing as how this was beyond my control, but I'll try and worry about that later. I've got way too much else to worry about now, so let's just pray I don't have a heart attack and drop dead in the airport somewhere. -.-;;

Well, the first part of the trip home was ok. Weather is fine in Boston, not bad here in Halifax (sunny but a tad windy), but apparently it's a crazy, crazy snowstorm back home. In like a lion, out like a lamb, my ass. I've been fortunate enough to find this internet cafe place here, where you can use the computer all you want with a single purchase (I love this airport, seriously. Even though it's smaller than Boston, Toronto, Montréal, etc., it has so much more to do!), and I tracked down the phone numbers for the 2 people I know here. Interesting sidenote, they're twin sisters, heh. I left a message on both their machines, as I presume they're working, so hopefully they'll get back to me. I can kill time here until supper time, as it's 12:30ish here now, but it'd be nice to not have to pay for a hotel tonight. 'Cause oh yeah, if the flight's delayed / cancelled due to weather? No comping for a hotel / travel, etc. Boo-urns.

I would've changed flights from Boston to avoid this, but to do that you need to purchase / upgrade your ticket, and to do that would cost me more than my entire trip. It would've more than doubled my travel costs, which sucks. It'd be much more fun to spend this free time with [livejournal.com profile] everyoung than scrambling to find numbers for people I don't even know will want to come get me. :/

Also, while we're doing the whole bad news thing, we weren't able to meet with [livejournal.com profile] beanarie yesterday, which breaks my heart a little. It's not anyone's fault though, she's just sick (and getting better I hope omg) but it still sucked.

Other than that, wow. What a weekend! Friday seemed like the longest. Day. Ever. But when it's spend with good company such as [livejournal.com profile] everyoung then it's totally awesome. We hung out, explored the city and saw V for Vendetta which is awesome. Earlier we had supper and were at this cool comic store, where I bought the Penny Arcade comic strip collection and a t-shirt for my sister. There were many other stores that we saw too, I almost bought shoes, and I'm sure there's much more that happened that day but I seriously can't remember. As I had to check into the airport the night before my flight, I didn't sleep at all until a short nap on Friday afternoon. I was so tired and in a new country and meeting Sara for the first time and it was crazy. Awesome, but crazy!

Saturday we spent all afternoon at this science museum, including a Star Wars exhibit. Very awesome, and I did not slaughter any Jawas, no matter what Sara says! not intentionally anyway. And then we saw the hockey game, which was so, so awesome. The Bruins won! :D! They may not make the playoffs, but I appreciated the good show while I was in the city. It was nice and close too, so both of us enjoyed it I believe. And the French Canadian guys behind us made it so much better! <inside-joke>PJ STOCK WE MISS YOU!</inside-joke>

Sunday was the day we were going to meet JM, but she was too sick to travel unfortunately. :/ We still went on and saw Harvard and stuff, which was very nice. Lots to see there, and the Harvard Natural History Museum was cool. So many animals and these glass flowers and everything! Whales hanging from the ceiling! Go Habs go! Then we saw Thank You For Smoking which rocks. Seriously, it's so very awesome. I also saw Three Kings, Equilibrium and Bend It Like Beckham with Sara, all new to me. A very film filled weekend!

Had to get up super duper early today, though for awhile neither of us wanted to. XD Eventually we got to the airport and even though I figured I'd be stuck here, here I am. It's the cheapest way really, a huge price difference, so that's all I can do. Ah well, it was a fun weekend anyway. I was very sad to go, I hate leaving people at airports. So sad. I may have had a little something in my eye, shhh. But yes, that about sums it all up I think. Right now I'm hoping to hear back from people, I have numbers but no return calls yet. I should probably go and get some food or something, I've been hogging this terminal for almost two hours now. Not bad for the price of a small chocolate milk! XD

Hopefully I'll get home again soon, looks like the eta is tomorrow afternoon sometime, if everything goes well. Until then, hope everyone else had a good weekend and talk to you all soon! ^_^

Also! Mad props to [livejournal.com profile] everyoung for all she did for me. Seriously, coolest American ever doesn't even cover it. You are the most amazing person ever, seriously. ♥♥♥♥♥

And a shout out to [livejournal.com profile] bunnytough! :D :D :D

It's actually quite stormy outside. I hope it either quits right away so it's not too bad tomorrow, or keeps on going through tomorrow, so that work is closed. Knowing my luck it'll be just enough to make it terrible out but not quite enough to close the office. Dammit.

Anyway, off to bed to do some more su doku before sleeping. Math is fun! :D;;

So, yeah. Tonight was kinda weird. I had fun and all, and got a lot done in Star Wars Galaxies, by the way. Even got some roleplaying in, and a nice, long chat with some cool peeps. But it was kind of odd, I don't know what it is. I've been feeling a little off lately, and it's still there. Hmmm. Oh well, it's nothing bad I don't think, just... weird. We'll see how tomorrow goes, I guess.

I had to shovel for TWO HOURS to get to work this morning. Gah! I don't want to shovel at all tomorrow if I can help it. My back is seriously hurting, my arms too. Stupid snow. It's not supposed to snow all weekend either, which probably means it'll be back for Monday. >.<

Well, it's almost 5am. Think I'll read for a little bit in bed before sleeping. I miss reading, I really should do more of it I think. *nods*

So, I was pretty bummed out earlier. But it's nice to have friends to talk to about stuff. Like [livejournal.com profile] bunnytough and [livejournal.com profile] beanarie. Yay! :D If not for them, this post would probably be all angsty,. >.>

Got back into Star Wars Galaxies today, and omg, I remember why I love the game. So much fun! Yay for afternoons off too, wihch enabled me to play a lot. My back and arms were still sore today from shovelling so much yesterday. I got wrangled into helping a girl from work to shovel her driveway last night too, which was looooooong. But she has a bad back, so I didn't want her to hurt herself again and all.

Looks like it's really stormy out now too. Will there be work tomorrow? omg I hope not, which means there likely will be. But Friday's are never that bad, really, and it's Casual Friday so I can wear my jeans. w00t!

I should probably go to bed now. It's been a nice day of playing games and sending many text messages. May tomorrow bring more of the same! :)
