At first I was worried about Dad getting a cell phone, that he'd be calling me all the time or texting or whatnot, worried where I was, etc. But nope, it's all good, with the added bonus of him and his constant battle with auto correct. Which, well. See for yourself in this text he sent to Mom tonight. XD

Oh Dad. )

Aion update!

Sep. 19th, 2009 03:09 pm
canadiandiamond: (Let's go!)
After getting home from work last night I got to make two new Aion characters for both [livejournal.com profile] believeitup and myself via the pre-selection process. I kept my two most favourite characters, as seen in the cut below:

Aion pics! )

And there you have it. More to come later, have to run now!

[eta] Also, is it just me or does this make it look like there's going to be way more Asmodians than Elyos characters?

gaming update

Gaming has been pretty darn good lately. Aside from a bit of kin drama, which I can't / won't get into here, it's been a great weekend.

Friday night [livejournal.com profile] believeitup and I got our Aion on, rolling new toons and playing them from scratch up to level 6, I think it was? At any rate, come the live launch of this game we'll both be able to play through the opening areas for both sides with our eyes closed. XD It was fun though, and oh so pretteh. Character creation in this game is a game in and of itself, kinda, or is at least as addicting as playing some games. I made two other characters to completely fill all 8 slots on one server, however I ended up deleting one of them (was kinda meh on him after) and didn't play the other (a ginormous Asmodian Warrior-to-be-Templar).

Saturday was a nice, relaxed day, and I didn't do any gaming at all in the afternoon, instead choosing to watch a movie and surf the net a little. After supper, though, I hopped in LOTRO to make pots and whatnot for that night, as we had a Watcher/turtle raid to do. There was a group going into the hardest instance of the game, but as the wife and I were part of that group last week, we were cycled out this week to let others in. The Watcher fight went ahead as scheduled, and oh boy, we finally got to give him a thrashing. It took two tries but even the first was very smooth up to a spot of bad luck, and the second was silky smooth. We did it without any Captains, even, which is definitely the first time I've done that. And as a result, both [livejournal.com profile] believeitup and I got to complete our Watcher radiance sets. He drops two tokens for armour, usually: either one helm coin and one shoulders coin, or two of each; I needed the helm and my wife needed the shoulders, and he dropped one of each coin. As we were the only mains in the raid who needed those pieces we got them automatically. Yay! Which was great because that fight was kind of a huge albatross to me; I'd only beaten it once since coming to the kin and that was on my Burglar, so that was so, so nice. Then we went on to roll the turtle on our first attempt and lo and behold, but he should drop a 1st age Burglar sword and I was the only Burglar there. XD It's such a fugly sword, omg, you don't even know (I may take caps later), but I kept it because, well, 1st age. Gonna be awhile before my alt sees one of those since my main doesn't even have one from the kin yet, hehe. It ID'd crappily but I'm going to level it for awhile and see what happens just the same. The kin's DN raid went really well, according to our leader, so people seem to be content with that too, which is good.

Today I'm gonna meet [livejournal.com profile] believeitup in Aion for awhile this afternoon before heading back to LOTRO for the Watcher/turtle later tonight. I thiiiiiiink she's locked out on both of her characters, for the turtle for sure, but we'll see what happens. Then the kin continues DN tonight, but I don't expect to be needed for that unless people can't make it for some reason. Either way, it's been a nice, mixed weekend of two different games and relaxing non-game time interspersed, complete with lots of nice loot. :D

Last but not least, here's a few screencaps to share with y'all. Not many, sadly, but a few Aion ones with a couple LOTRO ones thrown in for good measure. :)

Other than the picspam, not much new to report. The weekend was interesting, kinda. In game stuff is a little... hectic, at the moment, kinda. Things are a little up in the air but everything will be ok in time, I think.

Work is still a pain, ugh. I have something huge this Wednesday that once it's done, well, that will be... not the only hard thing I have left to do before my big trip, but definitely the biggest and the one I'm looking forward to getting done the most, that's for sure. So we'll see how that goes.

Just watched The Wrestler and it was pretty good, I must say. I have so many movies I've either bought or had give to me in the last few weeks that I haven't even opened, so I started tonight with this one, thanks to the lull in the NHL playoffs. I still have... *looks around* Caprica, Suicide Kings, The Spirit, and The Reader left to open and watch, oops. And a copy of Hancock that was my last selection of the month that came from Columbia House that I just accepted so I could quit the damn thing, haha, which I've already seen but eh. Yeah, I'm bad with movies, shh.

My many, many character profiles (+9) )

Yeah, I play a lot. Can you tell? XD Also, no idea why they say "Office of Band of the Red Hand" because my guys are just plain members, unless this changed since my lunch break. x.x

I've once again fallen down on the whole updating thing, oops. Things have been very hectic lately; work has been insane, though that's kinda been oddly satisfying - not so much the being super busy part but getting things accomplished - and my spare time has been once again consumed by the beast that is LOTRO. Not that I'm complaining, because it means getting to spend a lot of time playing with and talking to some great people, including fellow flisters [livejournal.com profile] believeitup, [livejournal.com profile] girlyduck, and our newest addition [livejournal.com profile] onlyonechoice. I've accumulated a ton of screencaps since the last such post I made, and seeing [livejournal.com profile] believeitup make a few of these recently reminded me that I should do the same.

LOTRO Picspam below! (+17) )

Ok, wow, that was way longer than I thought it would be. Other than all the LOTRO and the work, I've been trying to save money and plan for the big NYC trip, which isn't all that far off thankfully. I also picked up season 2 of Heroes this week which was only $28.99, though I've yet to watch any of it. I didn't rewatch s1 when I bought it last summer, so maybe I can re-watch that and then s2 before s3 starts soon, we'll see.

There's not really all that much else to report on other than that. Life = work and LOTRO the last while, and it seems like it will stay that way for the next while at least. I'm pretty happy though which is nice, and here's hoping things stay that way. I hope everyone else is doing well too, and I know I always say this and then fail, but I'll try to get on here more often and actually update once and awhile. For now it's off to make food for Porto and I for tonight's round 2. XD

So, this was the first real long weekend of the summer and it was a pretty nice one. It started off with a busy Friday for me, consisting of heading into St. John's after work for the annual Law Society Dinner & Dance. My friend who works in Marystown won two awards during the Bar Course last fall and got two free tickets, one of which was kindly given to me. It was great, and little did I know but because of her awards we were seated at the head table. They sat people across from each other to encourage discussion, so I ended up chatting with former Premier / Chief Justice of the Court of Appeal of NL Clyde Wells, former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of NL T. Alex Hickman's wife and several other people. It was great though, lots of meeting higher ups, talking to my old boss and coworker, and even running into an old college buddy of mine who was another lawyer's guest.

After that I headed to the Ship Inn to see my buddy Mike's band play. They started at around 12:30 and played until 1:30ish and did a great job. They're playing again next week on the 30th and since I have Tuesday off for Canada Day I might go in to see them again, we'll see I suppose. After that I went to J&A's and crashed for the night since I was pretty wiped.

Saturday was more relaxed. I slept in late, then got up and hung out with Alex for a bit, dropping my electric guitar off at Griffith's Guitar Works to give it a much-needed overhaul. They showed me some options for new pickups too but I don't know if that's cost feasible for me at the moment sadly. The noiseless ones I'd like to get would be almost as much as I paid for the guitar and amp together, haha. We shall see! After that we met my friend from Marystown again along with one of her buddies and saw Get Smart, which was pretty awesome actually. Steve Carell rocks, Anne Hathaway is so cute and overall the whole movie was better than I expected it to be. Good times! I hung out with Alex for awhile after that, going around the mall a little (I picked up a couple of Coheed & Cambria cds to try and season 2 of Supernatural for just $30), had supper and then drove back home where I chatted with [livejournal.com profile] believeitup before sleeping.

On Sunday I pretty much just slept in and hung out online for awhile, delving into LOTRO for a bit until the servers went down later that night. After that it was more hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] believeitup online before sleeping again, which was earlier than I would've liked. For some reason I was pretty tired this weekend, but thankfully I was able to get lots of sleep to help with that. I also caught up on BSG by watching the last two episodes and wow, very cool stuff!

Today was Discovery Day and a holiday for me. Even though I probably should've at least popped into the office to see what was going on and maybe send off a letter or two I didn't, oops. It was like 23-24 C degrees out (~75 F) which was very warm for me, so I spent the afternoon out on the patio with our new little set, taking my laptop and other supplies with me. I have pictures!

+3! )

I mainly messed around online and read a lot, finishing off The Amber Spyglass tonight, woo. It took me ages because I kept getting sidetracked but that's done now and I really enjoyed it even if it was pretty sad. And now it's time to sleep since I have work in the a.m., ugh. Here's hoping I won't be too far back from not going in at all over the weekend. At least it will be a short week no matter what!

Nothing much new to report here. I did actually have a two day trial last week that I clued up in Thursday, so I didn't do much at all this long, long weekend after all of that. I watched a ton of BSG and played a lot of LOTRO (hence the pics below, which are 1680x1050 thanks to my new 21.6" LCD monitor) and that was about it, heh.

We had Friday and today off from the office, though I really should pop in for a little bit this afternoon. I have to anyway, since I have court in the a.m. in the city and I need to pick up my materials. After that it's off to the city and hopefully meeting up with some people I think.

That's about it for now, I've gotta take off so I'll leave you with the pictures. :)

Aegor standing outside of the Prancing Pony in Bree.

Caleb and others getting ready for a big fight. Thankfully it wouldn't be against Thorog, though the Nazgul on the right put up a good fight too (we won though!).

Caleb and others in the Rift, fighting the huge and scary Barz. I hate that guy (we didn't win).

I left the interface up this time so you can see how much is going on at once in these raids, and also to show how much health Barz has. 137,260 x.x

Ognaw cowering beneath a cave painting in Goblin Town that is eerily similar to his mother-in-law. His words, not mine!

Caleb gazing skyward at a dragon that we had to take down.

About to lead the charge at said dragon. Knives out!
