busy weekend

canadiandiamond: ([BSG] and now that you're here...?)
Had a busy weekend here, much busier than I anticipated. Looks like I've picked out a new car, a 2011 Kia Sorento, which is fully loaded and has all the neat bells and whistles. Which comes in Java Brown, which I think my better half will greatly enjoy - her favourite beverage and one of her favourite colours all wrapped up in one. It's a great machine, and it'll be less than what I'm paying now on my leased machine, and this will be to own, so that rocks. Deferred payments will help too, won't start until after Christmas, so I'm kinda stoked about that.

We also found out that they'll be covering us for the damage done to the house, which is also great news. We should get the funds soon and we'll be finishing the job we've already started ourselves (by we I mean my father). That's been hanging over our heads for awhile so it's nice to know that's done, or going to be done at any road, in the not too distant future.

Lastly, NaNo is going well, hit 11,548 words tonight and am very slightly ahead for up to and including Sunday. I'm having fun and my idea, while it's completely being evolved and made up on the fly, is still fresh and fun to work on, something I haven't been able to do in awhile, and it's making it easier to chug along.

Other than that, still worried about work, and money (a little, insurance helps there though), and other things, but am doing ok all things considered I guess. Still a little mreh, and sick, which sucks, but the cough and throat were better today. Here's hoping tomorrow they're better again and eventually they'll be gone altogether. Off to bed now as tomorrow's a busy day, but the rest of the week shouldn't be too bad after that. Of course I totally just jinxed myself there, heh.

It's been an ok weekend, pretty relaxing overall. Much like the last few weekends, there was lots of LOTRO, though I haven't so much as logged in today and don't plan to either. Tomorrow's an early rise for my long-awaited CAT scan, and I need to get blood work done before the scan itself, mreh. Not a big fan of that, but what can you do? I'm hoping where it's supposed to be a lower body scan they won't need to inject any dye into me or whatnot like they did last time but we'll see.

I've been working on my plot for NaNo and while I have a general idea of what I want to do I don't have anything specific really planned out yet. I'm working on my laptop to get it done, with the hopes of traveling to Saskatchewan in early November if I can get my stupid Aeroplan points situation figured out, anyway. I'm liking the idea, though it could change at any time, really; already decided to change who the protagonist is going to be - it was originally going to be me rewriting an old rp character for the role but decided today to make a whole new one - so who knows what'll happen. I'm looking forward to the challenge at any rate; I've failed the last few times I've tried, breaking my pattern of being successful in even years (won in '04 and '06 but failed in '08) and getting back on track in '10.

Not much else to say, really. Been grooving to the newest Jimmy Eat World album, Invented, which took a few listens to grow on me but grow on me it has. No other new music, and still digging the Gaslight Anthem catalog and some Broken Social Scene as well. I could've sworn I'd read somewhere that there was a new Modest Mouse album coming down the pipes, which would be awesome, but haven't heard anything about it lately. The next big things I'm looking forward to are the reissued, remastered, deluxe editions of Springsteen's Darkness on the Edge of Town and weezer's Pinkerton, the latter of which I only recently heard about (and the former which I've had pre-ordered for over a month now, haha).

It's a little after 5pm and it's almost completely dark, and my light is the only one on in the entire house. Not sure where everyone else is, no tvs on, nothing, just complete darkness and quiet. My back's hurting a little too all of a sudden, ow. Way to not cheer me up, Sunday afternoon.

Think I'll head out to the office, which isn't going to help either, but maybe getting some work done will be a good thing. As no one's around I'll likely pick up something to eat outside, too, which probably shouldn't cheer me up but it will, shh.

[eta] Definitely pinched a nerve or wrenched something in my upper back, when I got in the car to drive over here it hurt to look over my shoulder / turn too far to the left or right, wth. I was fine until I put on a sweater to leave the house; pretty sad if that's what caused it. Out of shape much? x.x

Wow, I haven't made an actual, non-meme post here in ages. Since last year, even! I've been meaning to make one for awhile but haven't been able to bring myself around to until now, apparently, and even so this probably won't be as in depth as I'd like it to be.

Christmas vacation was fantastic, it was so nice to be back with [livejournal.com profile] believeitup again, not to mention her awesome roomie [livejournal.com profile] onlyonechoice and [livejournal.com profile] samzimmerman too. It was a nice, long trip, too, 16 days or so, and while I was there it didn't fly by or anything, either. It was great, the only sad thing about it was that it had to end, of course. I woke up this morning and realized it's officially been a week since I was last with my wife, and thinking like that always bums me out, boo to that. The next time I'll be down that way will be in March, we've already booked passes / hotel rooms for a convention in Boston, so that'll be awesome, and we once again reviewed some paper work re: immigration so things are moving forward on that front, too. It's just hard to deal with in the interim, but then again it always has been, so I'll be ok. Eventually, and that time's getting closer, it won't be an issue. :)

I won't go into detail over Christmas presents and whatnot, mainly because I have a bad memory and unless things were laid out in front of me (actually my still-as-of-yet-not-completely-unpacked suitcases are on the floor to my left >.>), but I was very happy with all of my gifts, and thank you all again for those that gave them, if I've forgotten to thank you already. Which I hope I haven't! So many new DVDs to watch, games to play, books to read, CDs to listen to, wow. I'll be kept busy well into 2010 for sure, if not into 2011 and beyond. XD

Other than that, not much else to report. Been back to work since Monday, after starting after lunch that day since I didn't get home until almost 6am Monday morning due to delays in Halifax flying back last Sunday. I also took a half sick day on Friday, and was pretty much drained energywise and had zero motivation to be back at it, ugh. That carries over to this week, the latter anyway, hopefully my energy levels will get back up. Just before Christmas I visited the doctor and got put on B12 pills, little tiny ones you dissolve under your tongue, to take each day for, well, likely the rest of my life. I had some blood work done that showed a B12 deficiency so he gave me a prescription and I have to check back in with him in a few months' time to see if they've helped any. I can't really tell if they have been, mainly because over the holidays I was bad and didn't take them daily, oops, but I have been since I've been back and still have lowish energy, but we'll see as I get back into a regular pattern if they improve anything. I sure hope so, I hate being tired all the time.

That's about it for now, not sure what else to add, though I'm sure as soon as I submit this something'll pop into mind. All the more reason to start writing here more regularly again, though, right? XD

stupid flu

Ugh, the flu knocked me the hell out yesterday out of nowhere. I think it was from all the travelling and stress and whatnot, it took its toll on my immune system and some of the girls in the office are in various stages of the flu, so I must've got it from them. After laying down virtually all day yesterday and this morning I worked in the afternoon and I think I'm ok for now. Still a little feverish but nothing too bad.

I'm still trying to summarize my whole vacation and will eventually get around to posting that soon, I promise! Hopefully by tomorrow if this stupid flu doesn't come back to haunt me. Speaking of which, off to bed for me in hopes of staving it off.

Ugh. I had this weird, tingly-like ache in my left arm tonight which set off all kinds of alarms with the hypochondriac in me. I popped a couple of Aspirin just in case (yay anticoagulants!) and feel better now... I also took a break from typing, and even typing now it's back again, a little. I'm willing to bet it's from being on the computer so much here and at work. I never was as much at work before, because my computer sucked, but now I have a good one, and the desk is awkwardly positioned, so yes, let's assume it's that instead of some cardiovacular disease that means I'll drop dead soon or something. >.>

On a happier note, after talking to [livejournal.com profile] herozero I went out to Wal-Mart and found a device that allows me to hook up my Xbox 360 to my old TV. I've been downloading demos all night and will leave it on all night to finish them, heh. And I now have an Xbox Live friend, woo! :D

Ok, off to bed it is. I was so tired today and I was only up until 1:30. Before leaving Marystown my bedtime was around 2-2:30. This is actually a good thing, getting more sleep, but it's still taking a bit of getting used to, heh. So here I go!

Well, I'm still out home. Tomorrow I'll head to the city for the 2nd half of the long weekend. It's been good so far, though the dentist totally yanked out one of my wisdom teeth yesterday. I didn't know it was that bad, but after poking and prodding it he figured that was the best route. I was only there for a little over 30 mins., and walked out with one less tooth and $90 poorer. XD At least it's not bleeding anymore. -.-;

Hockey Night in Canada returns tonight! It's actually on now, I think. I should go and watch it. My Bruins have lost their first two games, but I'm still #1 in the pool hehe. And I have more players playing tonight than anyone else too, so here's hoping I'll increase my lead. It's super early though, so maybe I'm jinxing myself by talking about it, but oh well.

I'm reading The Dark Knight Returns and signed up for [livejournal.com profile] fanfic100 tonight. Blame [livejournal.com profile] everyoung for the latter, heh. Though my idea for NaNo has a similar theme, so I think it'll be good practice for that. We'll see anyway, and I should say 'applied' for that rather than 'signed up.' No one else has claimed it though, so it should be ok.

Oh well, off I go then. Maybe to get some ice cream too, and relax at home watching hockey. Then tomorrow I can see some new movies, at the very least I wanna see Serenity. *crosses fingers*
