update!

It's been awhile since I've had time to update my journal, at least with anything but a short blurb here and there. So I decided before losing myself in LOTRO, as I've done doing pretty much all the time lately, that I'd make a concerted effort to make a nice, detailed entry in here for a change. So here we go!

On Work )

On Weddings )

On Music )

On Movies )

On LOTRO )

On Cats )

Well, there you have it. Not much else to say, really, not at the moment anyway. Things have been getting better lately, which is always a good thing, and while I still miss my fiancée I've been finding ways to deal with it, along with her awesome assistance, of course. ♥ Everything else is calming down and falling into place, which is a good thing. I'm definitely feeling much better lately than I did a month or so ago, and maybe part of that is the nice, mild winter we've been having and the constantly lengthening days, but whatever it is I hope it keeps going this way. And I hope everyone else is doing well, too. :)

So, I am home again. My plane landed at ~3:20am on Sunday morning, after a much smoother set of flights coming back from Philadelphia than I had getting there, of course. Bah, still a little sore that Air Canada basically cost me a precious evening with my fiancée, but not much that can be done about it now. After getting off the plane I called Sara, got my luggage, then drove back home with the folks through a snowy night, causing a longer trip, and collapsed across the door at 5:45am or so. Needless to say I'm still sort of adjusting to the time difference / lack of sleep, having woken up at like 4pm yesterday and working today. I feel better now though and hopefully the rest of the week will go well.

The trip was fantastic overall. I summarized the first week back in another post, and the last week was a little bit more laid back, if anything. [livejournal.com profile] believeitup continued to work and I brought her lunch one day, helped her catch the bus, etc., and continued to spend more money, heh. Our New Year's Eve was very laid back, with her, [livejournal.com profile] onlyonechoice, and I going out to TGIF for supper and seeing an early showing of The Spirit, which I liked but didn't really love. We stayed at home and watched many episodes of Robot Chicken until the New Year came, and then it was straight to bed for Sara and I as she had to open on New Year's Day, ugh. The rest of the trip after that consisted of spending as much time together as we could and a final supper for all three of us together at Famous Dave's BBQ, which was delish. Then I had to get dropped off at the airport and, well. Boourns.

I had a great time though, and even though Sara had to work it was kinda nice to be there and be part of the day-to-day goings on with the ladies. Seeing the new cat was nice too, Simon is so adorable, omg. And of course getting to celebrate [livejournal.com profile] believeitup's birthday, our anniversary, Christmas, and New Year's all in one trip? Priceless, absolutely.

In other news, Canada beat Sweden 5-1 for the gold medal tonight in the World Juniors hockey tournament, woo! Five in a row, baby. :D And work went well today despite dreading it since, oh, some time last week maybe while in Philly, heh. Here's hoping the rest of the week goes as well!

Hope everyone's had a relaxing holiday so far! Things have been great here and I still have a full week left to enjoy, woo! There's been a lot of goings on in the last few days and I shall try to summarize them below.

The Trip So Far... )

Alright, that's a long enough break for me. Back to the cat for another... *checks time* ...2 hours, maybe? Hmmm, perhaps with a break in between, then it's off to pick up Sara at work. I think I shall take my DS back with me and maybe a book or two. It's a little cramped in there but he's so cute and totally worth it, and even though he's getting better and better at not constantly meowing when left alone I hate to think of the poor lil' guy in there by himself. Time to go hang out with Dad's little buddy again! :D

Today was good, though busy at work. Tomorrow should be better, I do believe. My parents also leave tomorrow, after Dad got here today with my car. Both of them are driving back in their own vehicle tomorrow, leaving me with my newly repaired car. I'll have the house to myself until Sunday, though I may be into the city again this weekend. I'm thinking about sticking around here on Friday though and going out on Saturday, since I have Monday off. That way I can laze around here and do some online stuff, then sleep in my own bed, which is quite comfy with those new sheets and all. :D

The cat escaped today, as I found out when I got home from work, but I was able to coax him out with the help of a paperball that he just can't not chase, heh. Silly cat. It was a gorgeous day out, I think he just wanted to catch some rays or something.

I think I had more to say but I ended up spending too much time on WoW before bed and now I'm all in a hurry to get there. >.< I'm sure it's nothing important, such is my life. Oh yeah! Tonight is the end of the NHL regular season and from my rough calculations I made 3rd place in my pool! I added up my points and the guy behind me, who I was tied with going into tonight, is 1-2 points back of me. Talk about close, yikes. If I do get 3rd, that'll mean I get my $ back and will just forward it on to the playoff pool, which would be nice. Good times!

Now off to bed!

I'm back in Marystown now, just in time to start work again tomorrow, oh joy. Actually it's more like in 9 hours or so, but who's counting? The drive back down was uneventful, as was the rest of the day at home before leaving. Mom came down with me and dad'll be coming down tomorrow I think, or Tuesday, since my aunt, uncle and cousins are all gone until next Sunday. I guess them coming back will be like a birthday present for me, or something. XD Speaking of coming back, the cat's been all super-hyper-crazy now that he has human company again, hehe.

I got my phone bill today, since my aunt got it before leaving last Thursday and divided it all up, then gave it to me this afternoon before I left to come back. My share's $140+, which I kinda knew would happen but not to that extent. I was thinking it'd be ~$100 or so, but oh well. Stupid roaming fees were crazy, thankfully it's not something that I do very often. The network I'm on is in Canada only, so even when I was in Alberta and Saskatchewan last summer I didn't get super high fees like this, but being in the US is a different story. Still, I regret nothing!

There's absolutely no room here to put all my crap. Mom and I sized up my room and perhaps we can get more shelves to put up like I did last fall, if I take down some of my posters. Which I should, 'cause they suck anyway and I should stop pretending I live in a dorm room or something, hehe. Which I totally dreamt of this weekend, that I went back. So very weird, that was.

On that note, I should probably get ready for bed. I really don't want to go to work tomorrow, but I have another discovery akin to what I did last Thursday on Tuesday morning, so I really need to prep for that. It's a newer matter so not nearly as much to cover, but still. Plus Monday mornings tend to be blah enough as it is, and I've got a sneaking suspicion things will be worse than usual tomorrow. Or, y'know, I could just be slightly pessimistic. XD

I don't think I'll ever be able to feel lazy as long as we have a cat in the house. Even though I got up after 3pm (blame [livejournal.com profile] everyoung, though by blame I mean thank :D), he was still curled up in a little ball on the couch. When he heard me walking around in the kitchen, he poked his lazy head up, saw me, then gave a biiiiiiiig yawn and stood up. Then he stood up on his tippy toes, stretching way, way out, walked to the edge of the couch and let gravity slide him down to the floor. Two steps later and he realized he's standing where a beam of sunshine was hitting the floor, so he collapsed onto the ground again. XD He kinda looked at me with eyes barely open, as if to say "Yeah, sorry, I'll get to you later on *yawn*." Oh Rocky.

For some inexplicable reason, I want to buy a board game of some kind. Like, a Trivial Pursuit or something like that. Will I ever play said game? Not very likely, except for those odd occasions when I go to Grand Bank to see the married couple I know there, which I haven't done now since January some time. And even if I take it with me into the city, my sister hates board games so I'd likely not use it in there either. Very weird. I think it harkens back to my days in residence back at law school when we'd play Trivial Pursuit a fair bit. And there's a Trivial Pursuit tournament at the actual law school, though we only did that our first year I think. My team won! We even beat the faculty and the upper year students, hehe. Too bad they didn't do it after that, it was pretty fun. There's something very satisfying about pwning the Dean of your law school and some of the profs who clerked at the SCC and all. XD

I also have an urge to write a lot today for some reason. Do I have anything specific in mind about which to write? Nope, of course not. Perhaps I'll come up with something or end up doing nothing at all, which is the more likely action.

Either way, I think I'll head to Wal-Mart to check up on the Walk the Line situation. My sister informs me there's a 2 disc special edition too, so unless that's there I'll hold off once again. I think if it's not there now I'll just order it online, it'll probably be just as quick.

p.s. I love this song.

new shelves!

So, my parents were down here today and I have new shelves put up in the bedroom! This makes a lot more space in here, plus it makes things much more organized. Instead of random piles of books, cds and DVDs together I can organize them neatly on the shelves. Well, in theory anyway. So far, so good!

+6 photos of mah room )

Today was spent mostly on the renovations, which I love if you can't tell by now heh. Wanted to get more done, specifically with some movies I have to watch and send back, but oh well. I can maybe watch one tomorrow I think. But now that I think about it, I might have to go into the office a bit, as I have court first thing Monday morning. It should be very simple and not too long though, so it won't be too bad. *crosses fingers*

Heh, it's going for 5am and yet this seems like nothing compared to last night. I didn't get to sleep until 7:30am or so. x.x I even went to sleep before [livejournal.com profile] bunnytough. wtf, yo? XD And come to think of it, ditto tonight. Weird!

Awww, the kitty is back for more attention. I think where I'm the only one up in the wee, small hours of the morning, he comes to me for teh love. I shall go and pet him now! ^_^
