Hope everybody had a nice weekend. Mine turned out to be ok, a bit odd I suppose, but not horrible.

Friday I left work early around lunch time to attend the funeral of my great aunt, who passed away last Tuesday. She'd been sick for awhile but seemed to be doing better, but when I was flying back from Halifax on Tuesday my cousin (well, mom's 1st cousin, my... 2nd?) was on the plane with me because her mom wasn't doing well. She did end up passing away later that evening, and the funeral was on Friday. It was sad of course but there were a lot of good memories shared and it was a lovely service, and there was so much family there. As one friend opined, it's sad that it's usually only at weddings and funerals everyone gets together and more of the latter than not, but what a huge amount of relatives that were there. I was related to more of them than I realized, including my grandfather's little brother (who's now 69) that I've not seen in... well, probably since an infant and I wouldn't remember, heh. There were 5+ pews full of family at the service, which helps, having so many people to lean on at such a time.

Friday night involved raiding which was fun socially speaking, but we got very little accomplished in the raiding sense, taking down just the one boss when we usually get two or three done. It was just a weird night, and people just weren't listening at all, and when communication is key to completing the raid successfully, well, there you have it. It ended up being a late night and I crashed pretty much immediately after we stopped, which was almost 3:30am.

Saturday I headed into the city with my sister, who came out for the funeral. After running an errand for Dad we hit the theatre and caught a matinee of Rise of the Planet of the Apes, which was actually better than I thought it'd be. Without getting into spoilers, I was wondering how they'd actually connect to the original premise and that it'd be difficult to do, but they did a decent job with that. Then I stopped in the Bell Aliant store in the mall and ended up getting a new phone, haha. My old BlackBerry wasn't up to snuff, especially in Halifax; we had no wifi in our hotel so it was my lifeline to all things internet and it was slow, laggy, and just not capable of doing what I wanted. It would lag a lot and for some reason it'd skip and jump about at times when you tried to touch any icons, which is annoying since it's a touchscreen phone. So now I have a Samsung Galaxy II phone, running the Android OS, which I now have to get used to, but that's part of the fun with a new phone, right?

Saturday night we had a house party, and I ended up driving and played with my phone most of the night, heh. We also played some guitar, and it was fun even though I didn't really know the vast majority of the people there. I expected more of our crowd to show up but they didn't due to other commitments, but it was still a nice night. It ran way late too, though; by the time I got to sleep at my sister's place after dropping everyone off and having a quick bite to eat it was 4am. x.x

Not much happened on Sunday. Jen wanted to stay home since the dog had been locked up most of the previous day so she couldn't go out with me for food, so I popped out and had lunch and ended up bringing her back some breakfast from an all-day spot so she didn't have to cook. Then I popped over to Joni & Alex's place to leave their little souvenirs from Halifax and, when they weren't home, I decided to stop at the comic shop and picked up a new trade to read (Genosha X). Then I drove home, stopping at the office to check out this week's schedule, and relaxed at home with Big Brother and chatting with my beautiful wife for awhile. It was a nice way to wind down and end off the weekend.

Today has been a very good day so far and it's not even over yet, woo! It started off after midnight technically with me playing lots of LOTRO with [livejournal.com profile] believeitup (haha, I almost typed user=portobella XD ♥) and loving it, which was very fun and kept me up until after 5am, woo for late nights! Then I slept until 10:30am or so when mom woke me up and I got up (around 11am though >.>) and headed into the city, where I had an elaborate plan to see two movies. She dropped me off at the mall and took my vehicle and went to hang out with my sister, whose boyfriend was working today, so it was win all around.

First up: Smart People )

After the first movie I had a little over an hour to kill, which I did by browsing around the mall and popping across the road to the comic store to get my subs (new Angel and Buffy ones, plus picked up JSA #14 and Serenity: Better Days #2). I also picked up some D&D Miniatures, a starter kit of that and one booster pack, as something to try out with either my cousin or my sister's boyfriend when he comes out. For some reason I want to try that stuff out again, see if I can get into it. I got some miniatures for it aaaaages ago and they're on the shelf, I hope they're compatible with the ones I got today. We'll see later on I guess! I also bought a book called the Guiness Book of World Records: Gamer's Edition 2008 which is all about video game records, seems like an interesting book to pick up and browse from time to time, which is about all the reading I do lately, something else I want to change if I can.

Then it was back to the mall for the second movie: Forgetting Sarah Marshall )

(I cut the movies for those who wish to remain spoiler free, though I don't think there are any real details in there to spoil anyone. But just to be safe!)

After that, I met up with my mother and sister and we went back to Jen's place, dropping her off after deliberating about going out for supper or not. We decided not to, and after a quick stop off back at the comic store (this is when I bought the aforementioned D&D things, not on the first trip), Wendy's next door for supper, then at my friends Joni & Alex's to drop off a towel I had taken from them (they were in Cuba and while staying overnight there last week I brought home one of their towels I used to wash & dry rather than leaving it at their place all wet), we were on the road back home. We got back out around 9:15pm or so, after first stopping to pick up some supper for dad who had called on mom's cell while were on our way out to say he was hungry and hadn't made anything for himself. XD

And then I watched the remainder of the Boston/Montreal game 6 in Boston, omg. Such a see-saw battle, the B's went up 4-3 with 4 mins. left in the 3rd but they let Montreal score frickin' 11 seconds after that. Luckily they ended up scoring the game winner with just over 2 minutes left and held on to win, forcing a do-or-die game 7 for both teams on Monday night in Montreal, where they blew out the Habs last time 5-1. Here's hoping there's a repeat performance this time around! Even if not, I'm so damn proud that they've gone this far with the team with the best record in the East (note I didn't say the best team in the East). Lots to build on from what they've already accomplished and worst-case scenario they've worn the Habs down for the second round should they win, which I hope they don't. Go Bruins! :D *uses appropriate icon*

I also randomly came across this FigurePrints site, I forget how, and I know I've been there before but not lately. It's basically a business that offers to make a collectible figure of your World of Warcraft characters for a price, using a fancy 3D printer to make them. Demand is so high (and it takes so long to make them) that there's a monthly lottery to determine who gets to order their characters, and after reading this article about it all, I signed up on the site and put my name in the hat for the April 25th draw. It sounds really neat and looks cool too, and my main character, a level 60 Paladin named Rhorx, is still linked in the WoW Armory much to my delight. I think if I win the option to get one I'll reactivate my WoW account once again and make sure I pick / buy the right gear to make him look as cool as possible, hehe. My others are still there too which is nice to see, but he's the one I miss the most. Here's hoping I get the chance to order him soon!

Annnnnnnd last but certainly not least, [livejournal.com profile] believeitup will be home from work soon and we will be able to chat, which will be the perfect icing on the cake for the day, huzzah! And this is the longest entry I've posted in ages, holy crap. I'm hoping to get back in the habit of using this thing again, so here's hoping this is a good sign that I'll have more to write about. :)

I can remember a time not too long ago when there were hardly any movies being made about comic books, or at least the ones they made sucked. Now they're all over the place, it's great. X3 trailer out today (here if you're interested) and Fantastic Four comes out on DVD tomorrow. Good times, people.

It was snowing out today, a little bit. Not to much accumulated, but the roads were slippery when I drove home after work. I guess winter is starting to set in here now. It's later than usual, so I can't really complain.

So, I finally got to see Fantastic Four. It was worth the wait, I think. My original plan was to go to my parents' place and not the city, but it changed at the last minute since my sister wanted a ride out with me. So I was easily convinced to come in here and see that, which I'm glad I did. :D One part was interesting too...

Cut for possible spoilers and stuff. )

Right, well, it's 2:30 am-ish and I have a looooong day tomorrow. I'll be away from the computer until Sunday I reckon, so I hope everyone has a good weekend! ^^

( note to self: find [or make] a Johnny Storm icon. :D )

Well, the weekend was great. Got to see some relatives I haven't seen in ages at a famliy bbq, and I have pictures that I can post later on maybe.

Also got into the city to waste lots of money. -.-;; Got a cool Gen-X graphic novel, though the comic book guys comments of "Well, there's one we won't have to reorder now" and "People actually read that crap?" were less then encouraging. So that narrows down the comic book store I want to shop at in there from 2 to 1. Idiots.

Found a Tricky Woo cd, a Thrush Hermit ep, and Boondock Saints and Donnie Darko on DVD, all for fairly cheap! Woohoo! It was a good weekend all in all, and I don't wanna go back to work tomorrow. Having a large rp now with tons of people, so that's helping me relax before the start of another work week. Also have some rps in mind for my other characters that should keep them busy for awhile, so that's good too.

Oh yeah, and having a friend that can cheer you up when you're feeling down? That's always a plus. A huge plus, even. Thanks. You rock! :)
