I've never been big into art, really, but there was this company called Imaginus that'd bring all kinds of posters to a huge location on campus when I was in university (both MUN and UNB, actually) and, living in a dorm at the time, I would always pick up a poster or three. I had many Sandra Bullock ones, haha, and I actually got a print of Picasso's Don Quixote once because it looked cool. When I finally got an LJ, I think that was one of the first icons I made myself, from a picture of the same. It just reminds me of those days, and I use it when reminiscing sometimes. Or if I'm feeling, y'know, quixotic. :D
This is a screen cap (of poor quality since I took it and made it myself, haha) from I ♥ Huckabees, which was a neat little movie I really dug at the time I saw it. It shows Jason Schwartzman's character trying to cleanse his mind of thought, a TM kind of thing, and when he did so in the movie this fantasy-like scene played out around him. I don't use it much really but it was intended to be a calming/relaxing icon. Maybe I should use it more to calm myself, hmm.
Another one I made myself, this is a pic of Kristen Bell from an episode of Veronica Mars. Probably one of my favourite shows of all time, omg, and she's one of my favourite actresses (and the pb of my favourite character of all time!), so I decided to make icons from the show. If I recall correctly, I did one of those a-z competitions with her/the show but this was one of the few ones I made that I really liked and kept. I use it for looking back, and anything VM/KB related. :)
Old school hockey icon here, made by me which I loved when I made it but, well. My icon skills, they are not so hot. It's Ray Bourque, my favourite player ever omg, and Cam Neely, also a favourite of mine, from their glory days playing with the Bruins. Used for hockey related entries.
This is an icon I made after my first visit to see my now-wife,
believeitup, in Boston. We rode the subway there a lot, nicknamed the T, and the last stop one way on the... red line, I think, was a place called Braintree. A few times we rode that way and the voice would always say it funny, like... "next stop: BrainTREE!" I remember we giggled our asses off whenever we heard it, hehe, so it's a little injoke for us. I use it when talking/thinking about Boston, mostly.
This is one of the earlier strips from Married to the Sea which I love. I actually have the t-shirt of this from their store, haha, and got one for a friend of mine too for Christmas one year. I don't use it much at all, but it's meant for comedy and joking around I suppose. :D
This is a shot from Little Miss Sunshine that I wanted to icon when I saw it unfold on screen. They're rushing to get the little girl to the titular pageant and the van just pulls up on the lot at the end of this epic journey that's just been horrible and it just felt like a LET'S GO moment, haha. I use it a fair bit, actually, especially when I don't know what other icon to use, as a positive go-to icon or something.
This is a screencap I took of the credits of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It was one of my first really big fandoms, so much so that Nicholas Brendon was my first ever pb, hehe. It seemed like it'd make a good icon, and I don't use it that often but it's for being ticked off / annoyed.
This was a pre-made icon they offered on a site promoting Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World which I loved. i loved the books more so than the movie, which was also pretty good, but the books were just amazing. I love that it was set in Toronto too, hehe. I use it for random things, though haven't used it in awhile.
My wife
believeitup made this icon, I think, of Codex from the Guild. Felicia Day is awesome and I wanted another icon of her (the one I made isn't the best). It's supposed to be an 'oops!' kind of icon, but not sure if I've ever used it, really. I do like it though. :D
This one's of a teddy bear and is sort of an injoke between my awesome friend
beanarie and I, hehe. We did this online survey/meme years ago and we both got the result that we were teddy bears, so I made an icon of a pair of bears to represent us, and later she made that one. I mainly use it when talking to her.
This was a scene from a funeral in Smallville, which I was pretty into for awhile. Just a sad icon but the scene was done very beautifully and I thought it'd make a good icon source. It's for sad situations or when there are no words, which are the key words I think.
Let's go! Explanation is above, from Little Miss Sunshine, just loved the scene and it just begged to be icon'd to me. :)
Ahh, my Christmas-y version of my awkward hug icon. The hat is photoshopped on, and the scene is from All The Real Girls which is an awesome movie starring Paul Schneider and Zooey Deschanel. It's just a perfect scene for me, an awkward hug to represent their own awkward relationship and feelings, it resonated with me, hehe. And this is the Christmas version of it. :) I use it around Christmas time for huggy and friendly situations. :D
Vampire Weekend is one of my favourite bands, and this was the picture from their second album's first single, Horchata. I just love the image, which they also had available as a wallpaper, I think, and which I used as such for ages. When I found a smaller version of it, I just had to make an icon of it. It's used for musical posts and comments.
This is from a scene played during the credits of Sex Drive, a fun little comedy that had Seth Green in it. He plays a sarcastic Amish man and that's him goofing with one of the other characters in the movie as the credits rolled. Not sure what I use it for, haha, or if I've used it at all, Seth's hand gesture seems to indicate I'd use it for shaming people hehe.
This is our cat Simon, omg, when he was a teeny kitty after we first got him. He's so much bigger now and hairier, but here he's looking up at the camera and meowing. He talks so much, omg, and I miss him dearly, he's my little buddy. I use it for talking about pets/cats in general and Simon specifically. :)
This is from the poster of Gone, Baby, Gone which I really liked, and loved the image itself. It was another sad image to use, though I'm not sure if I ever have used it before.
This was from a site that once posted funny hockey videos, Knob Hockey was the site I think, and they made funny clips using old knob hockey players, hehe. This one video was about then Edmonton Oiler player Ryan Smyth, who that's supposed to be. He was exhausted and just overworked, haha, and at the end of his bit he was dropping off like "*sighs* I just want to sleep... I'MANOILER!" and hence the icon. :D It's also used for hockey talk at times and for funny posts too.
Kristen Bell in a Princess Leia outfit? Yeah, no, I had to make an icon out of that, sorry. It has to be done. XD I don't know that I've used it but I probably will never delete it. :D
This was from a comic, I think... hmm. I think maybe the Agent X comics? I can't remember, really, but I remember it was a cute panel and I thought it'd be a great &hearts icon, which is what I use it for. :)
I adore KB, Veronica Mars was one of my favourite shows ever omg, and she was also the pb of my favourite characters I've ever played too. She's a big hockey fan herself, a Red Wings fan to be specific as she's from Detroit, and this picture of her with the Stanley Cup was too perfect for an icon; my favourite sport and my favourite actress/pb, together at last! :D I don't use it all that often but can use it for either KB/VM or hockey talk.
From above: This is from a scene played during the credits of Sex Drive, a fun little comedy that had Seth Green in it. He plays a sarcastic Amish man and that's him goofing with one of the other characters in the movie as the credits rolled. Not sure what I use it for, haha, or if I've used it at all, Seth's hand gesture seems to indicate I'd use it for shaming people hehe.
This is a screencap from an episode of The Guild, one of the little video diary entries Codex does at the beginning, and the keywords, being a girl is hard, are what she'd said before making that face. I don't know that I've ever used it, hmm, I was just really into the Guild at the time and wanted a Codex/Felicia Day icon for discussing the same, and voila!
From above: This one's of a teddy bear and is sort of an injoke between my awesome friend
beanarie and I, hehe. We did this online survey/meme years ago and we both got the result that we were teddy bears, so I made an icon of a pair of bears to represent us, and later she made that one. I mainly use it when talking to her.

This is from an outtake/promo shot from the Tarantino movie Death Proof, the second feature of the Grindhouse production. Love the movie, and loved the car, and when it came time to make an OC for an older journal game I went with Mary Elizabeth Winstead and used this as one of her icons. In fact, I think the bigger version of this picture was her banner for her journal, hehe. I use it for rp chatter and specifically about that game/character.
SERIOUSLY? Haha, this is a cap from Grey's Anatomy, which I keep buying seasons of on DVD but haven't really watched since, like, Season 3. >.> Here Izzy, George, and Meredith are having a bout of SERIOUSLY?! over various things (they'd say that all the time, as I recall), so I decided to make an icon of that scene. I use it for, well, when I feel like saying seriously?! :)
