As you may have seen from my lovely wife's LJ entry, we've had to deal with flood damage to our house from the tropical storm that spanked our province on Tuesday. The water's all gone, we were thankfully able to get rid of it that afternoon, and the only real casualties were the carpet (which we were thinking about taking out anyway), some old end tables / a coffee table (both that my parents bought shortly before I was born and I've known all my life but they more than lasted longer than they should've), and maybe, maybe the big couch. We bought a new couch set, being a 3-cushion "big" one / sofa and a love seat, and while the love seat was thankfully dry, the sofa did get a little wet. :/ It didn't seem to be soaked through on the bottom or anything, so we're still hoping it's salvageable, and we've got the heat on to dry the basement out, so only time will tell. I think it'll be ok, though. We've also called the insurance company to see what they'll cover, and they haven't sent anyone out yet (I imagine they're inundated with claims right about now) but hopefully in the next few days someone will come have a look see and help us out. Word is the government is helping out, heck, even the Prime Minister is coming to see the damage, so we should get a little help with things, I hope. If not, we'll still be ok, just more of a pain in the neck (and wallet) than anything.

Other than that, I've been doing much better the last few days. The flood was the icing on the cake of a bad week or so, ugh, and after that I kind of dug in my heels and am determined to turn things around. While only time will tell re: the house, I've been feeling better myself and not letting things get to me, as best as I can anyway. I've also been listening to tons of new music, which is always nice and a big help. I've been digging albums by Mumford & Sons, Broken Social Scene, and The Gaslight Anthem to help me keep thinking happy thoughts and to pass the time, along with watching Supernatural, which I'm now fully caught up on, just in time for the season premiere I think, woo! So that's good. :)
