onlyonechoice, who game me R!
1. Ron Swanson - My most recent TV show to power my way through has been Parks & Recreation, which, once I overcame the similarity in shooting style to The Office, quickly grew on me. I've burned through all of Seasons 1-3 and am trying to catch up on 4 now, which is on the air now. Ron Swanson just might be my favourite character on the show. Who couldn't love this misanthropic, libertarian government employee, whose love of great steak and scotch rivals my own? He's as tough as they come and acts like he hates everybody... ok, well, he probably does hate a lot of people, but he cares about his department people. Especially Leslie, whose bond I love so much. Maybe not so much Jerry.
2. Rick Grimes - I've been reading The Walking Dead for years now, long before it became a tv show, and Rick is the main reason why. The series itself is amazing, going above and beyond your typical zombie project that focuses on the outbreak and the immediate aftermath. The Walking Dead goes far beyond that, examining life in a world gone mad, and Rick's life has been... well, I won't spoil it for anyone, but it's a fascinating tale. So much happens, and to see how much Rick in particular has gone through and how strong he's been, how strong he's had to have been, it's pretty damn awesome.
3. Rose Tyler - Oh Rose. It's true, I've been taking my sweet time finishing Series 4 of Dr. Who because I don't want to say goodbye to David Tennant, but it was also pretty damn hard to say goodbye to Rose. Having her leave the show took some of the steam out of it for me as well. Of course I am far from a Who expert, and haven't given many of the other companions (or Matt Smith I guess) a fair shot, but Rose has been my absolute favourite. She's how we connected to the crazy universe the Doctor occupies, and I have a weakness for strong female characters, what can I say? Especially blonde ones, heh. And Rose was just fantastic.
4. Robert Jordan - I really need to reread For Whom The Bell Tolls because it's been so long, and I've got this nice old edition kicking around somewhere too I think (unless I'm confusing that with The Grapes of Wrath but I digress). I was pretty fascinated by this character and his sense of duty, and how he fell for Maria. Their whole relationship, the writing of it, it was just fantastic to read. This was the first Hemingway book I read on my own, having had to read The Old Man And The Sea in Grade 8 I think, and it got me interested enough in Papa to want to read everything else he wrote.
5. Robert Singer - aka Bobby from Supernatural. While the show is all about the Winchesters, Bobby just might be my favourite character in the show. I was so glad to see him get a bigger role in the series as it went on, and I haven't watched Season 7 yet but I know he was still a main character after Season 6. He's just amazing, both in the field and in his go-to role as a researcher. All the phones he has at his place, it just kills me, so awesome.
