Wow, it really has been ages since I wrote anything here. I could've sworn I'd done a post since I got back to Newfoundland but it doesn't look like it, huh. Well, where to start? For the sake of brevity (and also because I've likely forgotten a lot of details / things) I'll do most of this in bullet point form.

· We saw Bruce Springsteen play in Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Center back on March 28th, and wow. Just an amazing show, can't even put it into words, at least not in any form that'd do it justice. The theme for the night was changes, very fitting for us, and they were in top form. The tributes to Danny and Clarence brought tears to my eyes, and the tribute to the Big Man during 10th Avenue Freeze-Out was a religious experience. Heck, the whole show was, to me anyway. So very happy I got to see them live, and even happier I got to share that with [livejournal.com profile] believeitup.

· We left on Monday, April 2nd to drive back to Canada. The 10' U-Haul truck I'd reserved wasn't available so they bumped us up to a 14' one at no cost. It was for the best in the end, even if it was hella intimidating to have to drive a 22' long vehicle that far (the storage was 14', truck and all was 22' total x.x), because we had a bigger cab and that meant more room for Simon in his carrier and us. It was a great trip, getting to see friends along the way and lots of scenery, though it was rough on poor Simon who consequently made it rough on us, heh. But we survived, and so did Simon, who's pretty settled into his new digs now. :)

· We arrived in NL on Good Friday and have been steadily unpacking and straightening things away ever since. We're getting there, though there's always going to be something else to do; such is the nature of home ownership, or so I'm told. It's been going so well though, getting government IDs and programs set up, a new car for the missus, all that administrative stuff has gone very well and honestly faster than expected. The unpacking too has been nice, though I don't know if it's that from this weekend or a touch of the flu that has me so so so congested this morning, ugh.

· We have HD set up at home now, woo, and a lightning fast internet connection that omg I am so happy with. Both I guess, really, because HD rocks. So nice to finally be able to use the TV we got so long ago. Getting used to the PVR too, I've set up a few shows to record, it's great. Hockey in HD is awesome too, though it made watching my boys bow out of the playoffs tough. >.> In truth we had gone to bed for overtime of Game 7 of the Boston/Washington series and both of us had nodded off and missed the OT goal that clinched it for the Caps, haha. Alas. We have mainlined Community and are now caught up and watching it in real time (last week's Law & Order one was omg amazing), and are now making our way through Parks and Recreation. We've also watched a lot of Storage Wars and Pawn Stars, as you do.

· Writing has been horrible for me, sadly, and I feel like a total failure in that vein, because I really have been. I've been so slow and absent for XP the last month, though I'm hopefully turning the corner on that one. I bowed out of the two Big Bangs I'd signed up for because I couldn't write anything, and I have a little story due today for a 1k fic exchange that I really need to tidy up and send off by the end of the day. That'll be about the only thing I've accomplished in the last month or more, which is pretty sad, but it'll be ok.

· In gaming news, I've preordered both Diablo III and Guild Wars 2 and am looking forward to them both. I've had trouble installing the former which I should work on tonight, as it goes live on May 15th, but there was a beta for the latter this past weekend that was pretty fun. It looks like a great little MMO, and I haven't really touched LOTRO in so long, so we'll see what happens I guess. I've also been toying with proposing a D&D campaign by mail to people in XP but honestly I've been so absent lately I don't think it'd be proper to throw that out there all of a sudden, haha. "Hey guys, I'm not rping much at all lately but let's do something else where I can fail you! :D" I know, I know, too negative, but I am messing around and making characters so once I've done that (and once I've been better at tagging logs and such) we'll see. :)

That's about it really, I suppose. There's likely more to post about but it's almost lunch time and I'm staaaaaarving, so if anything else comes to me I'll make another post or something. And hopefully I'll be posting here again more regularly too, that might help with the whole writing thing, you know, actually writing and all. XD
Tomorrow is my flight back to NL, at 3:45pm, though I'll likely be back before that since I need to bring my wife to work, return the rental, check in, etc. And tomorrow morning we have to hit up the post office up the street to get some things done too, maybe some packing depending on what I get done tonight I suppose.

It's been a great trip, I meant to post more about it while it was happening but I kinda failed on that front. More of a living in the moment kind of trip, I suppose, but I'll try to write more about it when I get back home. It was great, though, and had a blast, and as always really don't want to go tomorrow but c'est la vie.

Anyway, on that note, I should go and start to pack things, it's going for 9:30 already and even though I mercifully have a decent departure this time 'round I still need to get ready for it and all. Hope everyone's had a nice holiday and a good week, and that you all have a good weekend too. :)
Hope everyone is having an amazing holiday! I know I've been scarce lately, to put it lightly, but I'm just focusing on enjoying my time with [livejournal.com profile] believeitup and [livejournal.com profile] onlyonechoice and relaxing, so that's what I've been up to since last Sunday. I've been here for a week today and am here until January 6th, and it's been great. Maybe I'll do another post later about what we've been up to but it's mainly been an easy going kind of visit and it's been nice. :)

So, yes, short crappy entry is short and crappy but I'll try to write something more detailed this week some time. In the meantime, happy holidays to everyone and take care! :D

what a week

canadiandiamond: (*hearts!*)
Such a busy week, omg. This was the week I was dreading before I went on vacation to see [livejournal.com profile] believeitup, though I tried not to worry about it then. I did have a week and a bit to prep for it, but man. I was originally scheduled to be in court, both in Hr. Grace and in St. John's, every single day this week. Every day in the city, and a few afternoons out here, meaning tons of driving. Mercifully upon my return one of the matters went away, so I had no court at all Tuesday, and the 2 day trial I had for Thursday and Friday went very fast, so fast that it was done on Thursday afternoon. But still, omg.

It went well; I pretty much went 4/5, I guess. I won an application that had me worried sick (someone's home lay in the balance) and got two plea bargains done, with the Crown and I pitching different dispositions and the judge agreeing with me both times. And the other was a discovery which, mreh, that was something I worried about because I might've had to do some discovering too but didn't have to after all, so maybe I was 3/4. XD

Yesterday was one of my best friends' birthday and the gift I had picked out for him arrived on time, which rocked, I was afraid it may be as late as Monday, but nope, he has it! In time for the weekend, which is what I was aiming for, as it's a video game that he can now dig into during some time off. :D

And today was a nice reward, too, to have it be a regular office day with no appointments. We went out for lunch too at work, which rocked, because not only was it an unexpected office day, but today is also the second wedding anniversary for Sara and I. Yes, two years ago I was the luckiest man on earth, and still am, d'aww. ♥ And the things I had for her apparently arrived all at once and on time too, which, wow, I was sure that wouldn't happen. And I think I did a good job with them, hee, though I'll let Sara comment on that if she wants I guess. :D I am setting a dangerous precedent for myself this week, huh? Better be careful now. XDDDDDDD

Tomorrow I'll be going camping for a few nights, albeit in a cabin, which is neat. It was just slightly over two years ago that Sara and I were freezing our butts off in Allegany, haha, though that was still an amazing trip. Wish I had the sleeping bags we bought though, they were so nice and warm, though more than that I wish I had my wife here with me. ♥ All in time, though, and should be a fun weekend, I'm looking forward to the break and the long weekend. Long live the Queen! :D

Hope everyone else has a good weekend!

Heading "home," depending on your definition of the word, or at least back to Canada. Not long enough of a visit, but then again it never is. Had an amazing time as always, though, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] believeitup and [livejournal.com profile] onlyonechoice.

Will post more later, for now I need to finish off my breakfast and get to the airport. My heart's too heavy to say much more than that at the moment.
It's been awhile, I know, but I've been busy! First off, I've not forgotten the meme from last week, I've just not been around long enough to do it. Soon though!

Been an awesome trp so far. Flights down were miraculously all on time and smooth, and no luggage snafu this time, phew. Got to [livejournal.com profile] believeitup's apartment just before midnight, maybe a quarter of, which may not sound like it's a big deal at first blush, but I flew down on Saturday, April 23rd, aka my birthday, and for the first time ever I got to hear Happy Birthday in person from my wife. <3 Which, again probably a small detail for some, but it meant the world to me and was the best birthday present ever. It's the little things. :)

Sunday we were up early to drive to Lahaska to meet [livejournal.com profile] onlyonechoice and her family for Easter Brunch at Peddler's Village, my second time joining them there, and it was just as awesome and delicious as last year. Took a bunch of pics... on my BlackBerry, after yours truly left his camera at the apartment, having taken it out to charge the night before and everything. >.< Will upload those later, as it costs way too much to transfer data down here on an international roaming basis, but have lots of cute ones, including a new wallpaper one of me and the missus, and got a new Facebook profile picture from some of T's pics. The rest of the day saw us wandering through the Village, having a nice ride home (was so nice all day, omg, and we have a new Dodge Charger this time :D!) then home for naps and relaxing.

Monday was back to work for my baby sadly, and I got right back into the routine of bringing lunch to her, I love doing that. We had an earlyish night even though she wasn't in until lunch time Tuesday, as I had a phone appearance to make the next morning, so we hit the hay early and read for a bit, with me playing some Super Scribblenauts I got as a birthday gift from T and Sara. :D I also got both seasons of Breaking Bad from them on Blu-Ray, which is awesome, and Volume 4 of the Glee soundtracks.

Tuesday was the court appearance by phone that went exactly as I told the other lawyer how it would go, rararar. Waste of time, though worse for them - aside from nothing happening that they wanted, the judge reminded them they should be paying child support and ordered that too, heh, so there. Then Sara and I fled the hit apartment omg - it's the humidity that's making it unbearable, but fingers crossed that finally broke yesterday. We hit up a fresh market near her workplace, which had AC, as does the Charger, hehe. Then we had another low key night, cuddling up to watch the first episode of Game of Thrones and many episodes of The Republic of Doyle, which was awesome.

Wednesday was such a fantastic day, omg. It was Sara's day off and we made a day of it, heading to the King of Prussia mall for the day. Lots of both window shopping and actual purchasing, and was just nice to spend the day with my better half, especially in air conditioned cars/malls. We got in some more tv show watching that night, consuming more Republic of Doyle since I couldn't get the second episode of Game of Thrones on iTunes or anything, grr. Such a great day though, a full happy day with my wife. To cap it off, Boston beat Montreal in overtime of Game 7 to move on to the second round of the NHL playoffs! :D

Thursday it finally cooled off, and after work Sara and I got to drive around a little. We were joined by T for an amaaaaazing BBQ supper at Famous Dave's, mmmm. I just about ate it all this time, so much food omg, and so so yummeh! Then Sara and I watched the second episode of Game of Thrones after I figured out how to get my hands onto it, followed by even more Republic of Doyle. At this rate we should get to finish the first season before I go back, which I so do not want to think about. >.>

Tonight while T is gone for the evening my beautiful wife and I will be going out to supper at Outback Steakhouse, never been there so really looking forward to it. :D Then some raiding together tonight for a change, which should be fun too. :D I've had a productive day on a number of fronts, which rocks, am really enjoying it and still have supper and such to look forward to as well!

I also found reasonably priced tickets for tomorrow's Game One between Boston and Philly, which is here omg, and I'll be dropping Sara off at work and heading straight for the arena. :D It'll be well over before she gets off work so it doesn't even interfere with anything, so awesome, and omg I will get to see my first NHL playoff game, even if it's in the wrong arena. XD Will totally be going undercover so as not to get beaten up. XD

That's it for now, off to get my wife. I love her so much and am having such an amazing trip, she's so great to put up with me being (imho) clingy and such, hee. I just don't get that many hugs and such when we're apart, I guess, so I'm always holding her hand or touching her hair or her shoulder, the small of her back as we enter a room, that kind of thing. Loving this time together as always, I'm such a lucky guy. :)

Alright, speaking of which, time to stop rambling and go hop in mah Charger and get her. Hope everyone's doing well and will write again soon! :)
Just need to get through this week and then it's vacation time. Only a brief one, just over a week, but still. This week is mercifully shorter than usual, too, since Friday is Good Friday, though I won't be leaving to fly out until Saturday afternoon, getting into Philly late on Saturday night. That's a bit of a bummer, as I usually fly in the wee small hours of the morning and get there in the afternoon, but that's all you can do when that's all that's available. Likewise for flying on Saturday instead of Friday; Friday had nothing available for flying on points, and to buy a ticket would've been insanely expensive, since it's a holiday and the airlines don't let you forget that they know it is, heh.

Been listening to a lot of music lately, which is pretty cool. In the last few weeks I've been grooving to new albums by The Strokes, Jeff Martin, Elbow, Foo Fighters, Paul Simon, and TV On The Radio, not to mention dipping into some Muse that I've never checked out before but am loving - namely Absolution and Black Holes and Revelations. Will definitely be checking out more of their stuff, love it. And of the new material, all of it is great. The Paul Simon album is classic Simon, to me anyway, from his There Goes Rhymin' Simon era, The Strokes is rocking, all of it is awesome, I'm very very happy and musically satisfied. :D

I've also been reading more, finishing off two Star Wars books, Fatal Alliance and Deceived, both of which were good. I've now moved on to the George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series, thanks to friends' recommendations and the new tv series, which I'm liking so far but am only a few chapters into at the moment.

Also, coming up I'll be traveling to be with my wife for a little over a week, which is totally awesome and I cannot wait omg. Really need the break, and it's been far too long since we've been together, so that should be awesome. :) I'm leaving on Saturday and will be back on late Monday night, May 2nd, so if you don't hear much from me during that time you'll know where I am. :)

Waiting at the airport in Philly for our plane to arrive from Norfolk. We were supposed to have boarded an hour ago so running pretty late, but thankfully (now anyway) I had a 5+ hour layover in Toronto so I thankfully am not in a hurry, unlke a little over two weeks ago. *grumbles about missed connections to Cleveland* They just announced that we're a full flight and that there's people waiting on standby too, thankfully I have an assigned seat so I should be ok. It's 5A too, wonder if that'll be first class on this ickle jet? HmmMMmm.

Had an amazing time, as always. Love my time with [livejournal.com profile] believeitup and [livejournal.com profile] onlyonechoice (feat. [livejournal.com profile] samzimmerman & some crazy cats). I missed my little buddy Simon and was glad to get to know Ms. Kensi Kensington the Third, Esquire (aka Kensi, which is her real name, I am just ridiculous sometimes), who I think warmed up to mesa the trip went on. I owe everyone a great big write up, which maybe I'll do in Toronto, depending on when I get there I suppose. Suffice it to say it was a blast and I miss my wife and everyone dearly already, and can't wait for my next visit.

Not much else to say at the moment. I am in full on travel mode and focusing on that rather than missing my wife, and enjoying the seat I finally found - I was seated on the cold hard floor there for a bit - and may read a bit more. Sort of inspired to write a bit, I meant to during the days / evenings Sara worked this week but never did. Instead I just slept / watched tv / spent incredible amounts of money, take your pick. Some days all three. XD

Alright, reading it is then, I think. Got so many books on this trip, and may have just enough time to finish the Coffee with Hemingway book this darling girl got me for Chrismas before our flight boards. Hope everyone else is having a nice weekend! :)

Doing this because I can! It's after 12am here, and I have to be up in less than 2.5 hours to get to the airport, but still. Happiest of birthdays to my darling wife, the love of my life, the one, the only [livejournal.com profile] believeitup! *kisses* Will be bringing you birthday wishes in person in only a little more than 12 hour or so, but still wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday here. Love you so much babeh. <33333333333333

And also a very Happy Birthday to my awesome sister-in-law [livejournal.com profile] girlyduck! I hope you have a great one too! :D

So, I am a horrible LJer and haven't posted anything since early this month. It's been extremely busy, lots of court and lots of work to be done, as December usually is, but I survived it (or have so far anyway XD). Tomorrow I have work in the morning, a trial in the afternoon, then it's off to the city to stay there overnight in order to better catch my 5:05am flight to [livejournal.com profile] believeitup on Thursday morning. :D I cannot even put into words how much I'm looking forward to the trip or how much I need the break, but it's almost here. :)

I should still have computer access when I'm away and will try to post while there at least once, but until then, and in case I don't get a chance in the near future, hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas! :D

Getting it out somewhere did seem to help, it appears. At least a little, anyway; my trial is now done today and went pretty well, which is always nice. And while I still couldn't find any more available routes to see my friend in SK, they apparently added more ways to book a flight to Philadelphia, soooooooo since it's officially impossible to get to SK next week, I used my points to book my Christmas travel instead. I was certain I'd have to pay for that, even called the agent over a week ago to see about prices - she never called me back so haha, her loss, my gain. So yeah, flying down on December 23rd (hmm, that day is special for some reason, can't quite put my finger on it...) and then back on January 8th, a Saturday, staying a bit longer than usual to make up for going there a bit later than usual. So that's good, right? Yes, yes it is.

Still talking to my buddy to maybe arrange a trip in the New Year, once both of our finances have settled down somewhat, so it's not given up on entirely, it'll just have to wait awhile. We have more time to plan now, too, which is good, and it'll work out in the end. The added bonus about not having to pay for Christmas travel was a nice touch, too, that'll help a lot with immediate financial constraints and whatnot, so yeah, a bit of good news finally.

Everything's still far from completely ok, of course, I just didn't expect things to start to swing around so quickly, but there you have it. I should complain on here more often, haha. XD

A little slow on the uptake here, whoops, but only just realized it was two years and one week ago, or two years ago to the day from last Monday, Thanksgiving up here, that [livejournal.com profile] believeitup made me the happiest man alive by agreeing to marry me in NYC, d'aww. ♥ So yeah, pretty damn thankful for that. :D

Now back to your regularly scheduled work day. XD

And so the long weekend draws to a close. It was a nice one indeed, very relaxing, right up until today when I went back into the office to catch up on a few things in the afternoon and had a minor panic attack when I realized something that (thankfully) turned out not to be as bad as it first seemed.

Friday and Saturday I basically just let myself forget about work and real life as much as I could by sinking into LOTRO as far and as deep as I've been in a long, long time. On Friday I worked until 7pm effectively, which was crazy, so I needed a good escape from reality. I found it for sure, staying up fairly late on Friday night and holy crap it's so damn late on Saturday night. My only break from the game, aside from sleep, was going to see The Other Guys with my sister and her boyfriend on Saturday night. It was pretty funny, though my sister hated it. But yes, lots of LOTRO, and lots of leveling and improving my character, which was nice. I've been slacking for awhile, or rather, I've been doing other things lately other than playing - watching Dr. Who, writing a little, reading, etc. - but this weekend let me catch up a little to [livejournal.com profile] believeitup and some other kinmates.

Sunday I hung out with my friend Shawn for the afternoon / early evening, which was nice too. We had a barbecue followed by watching a movie on my new tv in Salmon Cove. Such an awesome tv - we put a movie file onto a USB flash drive and just plugged that directly into the tv and it plays it, no player or anything required. Very awesome tv, I'm very satisfied with that purchase, I must say. :) Then I came home, met up with my wife, and played some more LOTRO. It was a later night than I'd planned for but still nice, and went to bed at a better hour than Saturday night, heh.

Today was up and down, kinda. I slept in, which was good, but went to work, did very little other than the minimum, and just before leaving I realized something that had to be done and freaked out, thinking it was a lot worse than it was. I called my boss, even, who confirmed that there was less to do than I first thought, so then I did what I had to do and now tomorrow I'll get my assistant to mail things out and it'll be ok, phew. Then I came home and have been chatting with my beautiful wife ever since, which was made me feel so, so much better, as always. ♥ Also watched some episodes of Supernatural while chatting, which has also been nice, as I picked up Season 5 last week. I'd downloaded a few eps while it aired but fell way behind, so now I can catch up.

With that, though, it's time to get ready for bed. Busy, busy week ahead, ugh, court all day tomorrow, appointments all day Wednesday (going to get my assistant to move some of those though or else I'll fall even more behind), and court on Thursday and Friday in the city, meaning either very early rises those mornings or traveling to the city the evenings before, then a friend's 40th birthday party in Burin so a big road trip this weekend. So off I go!

Hope everyone had a nice long weekend! :)
