So, now that LJ seems to be working again (hope I didn't jinx it!), I can finally post a little update. I went to try a few nights ago but couldn't get on, and then my desktop wasn't working because it sucks so much and I need a new one, ugh. Someday. I'd love to get a Mac, actually, if not for the fact that I play games and wouldn't really be able to on a Mac, sadly.

Anyway! I hope everyone had a great holiday. Mine was very relaxing, which was nice and sorely needed. There were things I wanted to do that I couldn't, not because of anyone's fault but just because things happened the way they happened, but all of those things can be done later (movies, board games, etc.) and the most important part was spending time with family and getting a break from work, both of which were accomplished, so it goes down as a success. We missed our cat for awhile, as he was in the vet's office for almost a full week until yesterday, but he's home again now and doing well which is also terrific.

Yuletide was a blast this year, and I ended up receiving three fics in total: one as my main gift (Pitch Perfect fic about Beca/Chloe/Jesse), one as a treat (Parks and Rec fic about Leslie/Ann), and another one for Madness (Community fic about Troy/Annie). I also really enjoyed writing a bunch of things: my main assignment (Pitch Perfect fic about Beca/Chloe), a pinch hit (more Pitch Perfect fic, this time a 'what if?' sequel to the movie), and many Madness drabbles/ficlets (in Crazy Stupid Love, Zombieland, Cabin in the Woods, and Community). So much fun, and I've got several more plot bunnies at the moment, specifically for more Zombieland writing and to finish off a Veronica Mars / Flashpoint fic I've started. We'll see what happens I suppose, but yay for writing!
Enjoying a nice, peaceful weekend. Friday started off with a marathon night of Guild Wars 2 with my buddy Brad which was awesome, and I figured that was indicative of what the rest of the weekend would be like.

I was wrong, however. My sister reminded me that earlier in the week I'd offered to come into the city to help her pick out things for my mother's Christmas stocking (she always did ours as kids, heck, still does, so a few years ago my sister started making one for Mom and I help out), and my wife was working, so into the city I went. It meant less sleep, in theory, but even with staying up until almost 3am playing GW2 and getting up at 9 to get ready I still had a great night's rest. The day was really nice too, as my sister and I haven't spent much time together lately with her new job and with me being busy out home. We hung out, got to see Wreck-It Ralph which, omg, I loved. So, so much. Definitely on my must own list once it's out on video. We also picked up her dog's Christmas pictures, then came out home and later last night we did the shopping for mom.

After that I just watched tv with Sara, which was nice, especially the Friday night episode of The Late Late Show. Craig Ferguson is the man and this past week he actually had Richie Sambora as his house band, when normally he has no one, haha. It was a great week, so funny. Then I just ended up writing, finally working on Yuletide in earnest since it's only another 11 days until it's due. How did that happen again? I've also got another exchange due on the 21st but as that's also an Avengers one and only 2k minimum, and I just finished a huge (for me) 11k Avengers crossover fic, I'm focusing on Yuletide for now. I got as far as 1,667 words last night, which was great, at least I'm over the minimum now.

Today I got up early again, around 10am this time after going to sleep close to 3 again after watching SNL with Sara. Most of the day has been devoted to Yuletide again, and now I'm well over 5k words. To say I'm very pleased with this development would be an understatement, haha. I only wish I'd had this kind of wind behind my sails for NaNo but what can you do? I'm just enjoying being able to write again, and really, really liking this fic. I'll link it here in the New Year after the whole reveal and all, but I really hope the person for whom I'm writing will like it. I'm about half way through what I plan to write, so it'll be a nice, long fic for sure. Huzzah!

Back to writing for me, I think, and maybe a quick break to wash the dishes, before I pick up the wife from work. It's been a great weekend, and I hope everyone else's has been just as good or better! :)
Hope everyone is having an amazing holiday! I know I've been scarce lately, to put it lightly, but I'm just focusing on enjoying my time with [livejournal.com profile] believeitup and [livejournal.com profile] onlyonechoice and relaxing, so that's what I've been up to since last Sunday. I've been here for a week today and am here until January 6th, and it's been great. Maybe I'll do another post later about what we've been up to but it's mainly been an easy going kind of visit and it's been nice. :)

So, yes, short crappy entry is short and crappy but I'll try to write something more detailed this week some time. In the meantime, happy holidays to everyone and take care! :D

Ho ho ho~

More to post later, for sure, but so tired tonight and need sleep.

But first, since I was going to make this a separate post anyway, comment here with your addy (will screen comments!) if you'd like a Christmas card from me. I've asked some people elsewhere but want to make a post here too. :D

So, I am a horrible LJer and haven't posted anything since early this month. It's been extremely busy, lots of court and lots of work to be done, as December usually is, but I survived it (or have so far anyway XD). Tomorrow I have work in the morning, a trial in the afternoon, then it's off to the city to stay there overnight in order to better catch my 5:05am flight to [livejournal.com profile] believeitup on Thursday morning. :D I cannot even put into words how much I'm looking forward to the trip or how much I need the break, but it's almost here. :)

I should still have computer access when I'm away and will try to post while there at least once, but until then, and in case I don't get a chance in the near future, hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas! :D

Getting it out somewhere did seem to help, it appears. At least a little, anyway; my trial is now done today and went pretty well, which is always nice. And while I still couldn't find any more available routes to see my friend in SK, they apparently added more ways to book a flight to Philadelphia, soooooooo since it's officially impossible to get to SK next week, I used my points to book my Christmas travel instead. I was certain I'd have to pay for that, even called the agent over a week ago to see about prices - she never called me back so haha, her loss, my gain. So yeah, flying down on December 23rd (hmm, that day is special for some reason, can't quite put my finger on it...) and then back on January 8th, a Saturday, staying a bit longer than usual to make up for going there a bit later than usual. So that's good, right? Yes, yes it is.

Still talking to my buddy to maybe arrange a trip in the New Year, once both of our finances have settled down somewhat, so it's not given up on entirely, it'll just have to wait awhile. We have more time to plan now, too, which is good, and it'll work out in the end. The added bonus about not having to pay for Christmas travel was a nice touch, too, that'll help a lot with immediate financial constraints and whatnot, so yeah, a bit of good news finally.

Everything's still far from completely ok, of course, I just didn't expect things to start to swing around so quickly, but there you have it. I should complain on here more often, haha. XD

Wow, I haven't made an actual, non-meme post here in ages. Since last year, even! I've been meaning to make one for awhile but haven't been able to bring myself around to until now, apparently, and even so this probably won't be as in depth as I'd like it to be.

Christmas vacation was fantastic, it was so nice to be back with [livejournal.com profile] believeitup again, not to mention her awesome roomie [livejournal.com profile] onlyonechoice and [livejournal.com profile] samzimmerman too. It was a nice, long trip, too, 16 days or so, and while I was there it didn't fly by or anything, either. It was great, the only sad thing about it was that it had to end, of course. I woke up this morning and realized it's officially been a week since I was last with my wife, and thinking like that always bums me out, boo to that. The next time I'll be down that way will be in March, we've already booked passes / hotel rooms for a convention in Boston, so that'll be awesome, and we once again reviewed some paper work re: immigration so things are moving forward on that front, too. It's just hard to deal with in the interim, but then again it always has been, so I'll be ok. Eventually, and that time's getting closer, it won't be an issue. :)

I won't go into detail over Christmas presents and whatnot, mainly because I have a bad memory and unless things were laid out in front of me (actually my still-as-of-yet-not-completely-unpacked suitcases are on the floor to my left >.>), but I was very happy with all of my gifts, and thank you all again for those that gave them, if I've forgotten to thank you already. Which I hope I haven't! So many new DVDs to watch, games to play, books to read, CDs to listen to, wow. I'll be kept busy well into 2010 for sure, if not into 2011 and beyond. XD

Other than that, not much else to report. Been back to work since Monday, after starting after lunch that day since I didn't get home until almost 6am Monday morning due to delays in Halifax flying back last Sunday. I also took a half sick day on Friday, and was pretty much drained energywise and had zero motivation to be back at it, ugh. That carries over to this week, the latter anyway, hopefully my energy levels will get back up. Just before Christmas I visited the doctor and got put on B12 pills, little tiny ones you dissolve under your tongue, to take each day for, well, likely the rest of my life. I had some blood work done that showed a B12 deficiency so he gave me a prescription and I have to check back in with him in a few months' time to see if they've helped any. I can't really tell if they have been, mainly because over the holidays I was bad and didn't take them daily, oops, but I have been since I've been back and still have lowish energy, but we'll see as I get back into a regular pattern if they improve anything. I sure hope so, I hate being tired all the time.

That's about it for now, not sure what else to add, though I'm sure as soon as I submit this something'll pop into mind. All the more reason to start writing here more regularly again, though, right? XD

Hope everyone's had a relaxing holiday so far! Things have been great here and I still have a full week left to enjoy, woo! There's been a lot of goings on in the last few days and I shall try to summarize them below.

The Trip So Far... )

Alright, that's a long enough break for me. Back to the cat for another... *checks time* ...2 hours, maybe? Hmmm, perhaps with a break in between, then it's off to pick up Sara at work. I think I shall take my DS back with me and maybe a book or two. It's a little cramped in there but he's so cute and totally worth it, and even though he's getting better and better at not constantly meowing when left alone I hate to think of the poor lil' guy in there by himself. Time to go hang out with Dad's little buddy again! :D

So, the trip to visit [livejournal.com profile] believeitup is not going as well as it should've been, but I'm still trying to stay positive.

It started out with the single and only flight out of St. John's that was cancelled this morning being my flight, of course, which was one to Toronto, where I had a 5+ hour wait until my connecting flight to Philadelphia. I arrived around 5:10am and the flight was scheduled for 6:55am, and sadly I'd just missed another that was leaving at 5:15am. Luckily, however, or so I thought, they came up with another solution: put me on a plane that was scheduled to leave ~6:20am for Montreal where I could easily connect to Toronto (they fly every hour on the hour from there to TO) and then I'd easily make my connection.

Sadly, the 6:20am flight didn't leave until closer to 8am NL time. The plane was right there on the run way, waiting to be taxied over to the terminal so we could actually board it, but for some damn reason they couldn't do it. There were even an announcement saying they'd tow it over and boarding would then start in 10 minutes, but then it was about an hour before we actually could board. I wasn't too concerned then, as with the 1.5 hour time difference in my favour and what I thought was a short flight I'd be ok. And heck, they even put me in Executive, which is Air Canada talk for First Class, so I got a big seat, lots of leg room, choice of fresh fruit or smoked salmon for a meal, warm towels, etc., very swanky. Only thing was, I figured it was like maybe 2 hours tops to Montreal, but it was closer to 3. Plus, when we landed, we were stuck on the damn plane for 30 freakin' minutes for some reason, again a dumb delay, and our 9:30am EST scheduled time (late for my 9am connection but certainly fine for a 10am next one) went out the window. I was literally the first off the plane and went to the 10am gate to see the last people getting on and was told that, sorry, no room in the inn.

So they sent us to Customer Service, where, haha, NO ONE WAS WORKING. I'm serious, 10:10am in a busy airport on one of the busiest days of the year and not a soul at the Customer Service desk. Inexcusable. Myself and other passengers waited for ~45 damn minutes before anyone showed, knowing that not only was the 10am one gone but 11am was too (and so were any and all chances of making my flight to Philly), and then wehn someone showed up they said, no, we had to go elsewhere. askdpowqkdpokwad;lasdk RAGE.

They sent us downstairs somewhere, which are horrible, horrible directions to give to someone who's never spent much time in the Duval airport, especially at this time of year. Ugh. Myself and my fellow pack of exiled passengers from St. John's go to one line, find out it's wrong, then to another, find out that's wrong, then finally get in the right one, where we proceeded to wait over four hours to talk to someone. I just... I am hard to anger or annoy, but omg. So angry and furious today.

Luckily, the people who made up the informal group were awesome. There was a guy named Nick who is from Alberta originally but works in Gander, who was heading home for Christmas. He was funny and nice and at one point left the line and brought back like 6 bottles of water for us, since we were all thirsty and in line, heh. There was a lady and her son, and she kinda reminded me of Carla from Scrubs, and she was a nurse too. XD Very nice though, and her son, ~12 or so I guess, was funny. There were another guy and girl who both gave up, the girl taking a train to TO and the guy swapping to WestJet for another flight, annnnnd there was a quiet girl from PEI who looked a little like [livejournal.com profile] believeitup (which made me miss her more ♥) and a guy from NB, who wasn't actually from our flight but came to the airport to buy a ticket home. The place we had to go for rebookings was also where you buy tickets.

Anyway, after all that hassle, the guy I got to speak to was really nice and understanding. Without me even asking, they set me up with a free hotel room, a $10 airport voucher for lunch (grabbed some Burger King before I left, mmm), $15 for supper, and $7 for breakfast. There's a free shuttle that runs to and from the hotel too so it hasn't been that bad of an experience, the lack of Sara aside of course.

I went for a walk for about 90 mins. too, which was nice. Not much to see, as it's all commercial and office type buildings / hotels around here, but the fresh air did me good I think, especially after either being cramped up in an airplane or standing in line all day long. Since then I've had pizza for supper (a Quebecois one, which is bacon, onions, and mozzerella cheese, plus I added pepperoni and ground beef), watched some hockey, chatted with mah babeh while the internet worked, and then clued it up with a nice, long phone call once my internet shut down. It's back up now, hopefully long enough for me to finish and post this at least.

So, yes. Montreal. I'm currently confirmed on a flight to Toronto at 10am tomorrow and then from Toronto to Philadelphia at 5:45pm tomorrow afternoon. There's supposed to be snow tomorrow in Toronto so the extra early departure time (in respect to the Philly connection that is) is to allow for delays and whatnot. There was another direct to Philly from here, but it's later in the day than the Toronto part and it's with an American company that says it'd have to be on stand by, so even though it's a later arrival than I'd like, at least I'm confirmed for it. Here's hoping all goes well, and I'l update everyone when I get another chance. Hopefully from Sara and Tanya's apartment tomorrow night, hehe! :D

Today I was happy because I finally got my Christmas bonus and my commission cheque. Which is a whole, long story that I don't want to get into, but suffice it to say problem solved. :)

Other than that, playing LOTRO made me happy, especially since I get to play with my baby tonight, woo! And only 3 more days until I'm in Philadelphia, omg. Good times! :D

I was happy to hang out with my sister for the day, getting to do a little shopping for our mom together and just hanging out in general was nice. I also got to sleep in, which I realized when I woke up will be the last time I get to sleep in until next Sunday morning, omg, when I will be waking up in [livejournal.com profile] believeitup's bed. ♥ Also, talking to said fiancée on the phone made me happy and was after midnight and technically today, so there. :)

The weekend was good, I finished up 99% of my Christmas shopping and for the last part I know what I want to get, I just need to get it. Then I can drop off my gifts throughout the week around here and the few that need to get into the city I can deliver on Friday night before flying out in the wee, small hours of Saturday morning. Only 6 more days omg, a little over 5 really since it's so early on Saturday morning! I leave at 6:55am so I need to have my bags checked in at least 90 mins. prior to that, so I need to get there by 5am-ish. I cannot wait, I tell you.

Ok, off to finish off (and by finish off I mean start and then complete) my Christmas cards, then mom wants us to help her with the tree and such. Good times! Hope everyone had a nice weekend! :)

It's after midnight so I'm gonna cheat and post for day 4 now, since I'll be Christmas shopping in the city tomorrow and may not get a chance to get online. Today I am happy becaaaaaause... well, because I get to go Christmas shopping, maybe even get to see a movie, and I'll get a chance to see my friends one more time before going away for the holidays. It'll be a little weird to be away from my family and friends for Christmas this year, but the positively awesomeness of spending it with my lovely fiancée far outweighs all of that, of course.

Speaking of which, wow, just 7 days from now until I fly out. It will be early in the morning too, like 6:55am, so it's almost exaaaaaaactly one week away. Huzzah! I cannot wait, seriously.

Today was also good, because work wasn't too, too bad, and because I got to get some LOTRO in after work and won this really awesome cloak from finishing the epic book quests in the game. That and getting to play with some really awesome people (only one missing was [livejournal.com profile] believeitup but I did get to talk to her on the phone before her bedtime ♥) made for a fantastic night.

Ok then, time for sleep, but hope everyone had a great Friday and has a good day tomorrow! :D
