Continuing the theme started yesterday, Day 2's topic: Me and MMOs!

Me & MMOs )
For the most part it's been a good weekend, at least personally speaking: spent a lot of time working on one character in particular in LOTRO on Friday night and getting him leveled up, though my poor wife was sick for most of that time. Yesterday, though, things took a turn for the better as she was feeling much, much better and we spent pretty much the entiiiiiire day in Aion, joined late in the night (or early this morning, technically) by a good friend of ours who broke down, ordered the game, downloaded it yesterday afternoon/night and played a little with us. That was nice and relaxing, and all of yesterday was spent in Vent talking to my wife too, which is always nice. ♥

The downside, sadly, is that yesterday while the folks were out camping (they sold their older trailer but bought a new [to them!] one yesterday and went out for an overnight trip yesterday) they got a call on their cell saying that my grandmother, on dad's side, who's been in declining health for sometime now, wasn't doing too well. They came back home, of course, and an aunt and uncle of mine stayed here last night and are around today with her, along with some other uncles. They've put her on morphine to help with her pain, and she's just not getting better, and there's nothing they can really do for her. At this point it's basically just a matter of time, which is sad to say, but the poor woman's been in such a hard state lately that maybe, as hard as it is to say, that it's for the best. When my sister was home last weekend we went to visit her and she's basically wasted away to nothing, and didn't even remember my name, though she did seem to know who I was. She knew Jen's name, and all she could say about me was that "he's smart," heh, because she would always tell the nurses and people that her grandson was a lawyer. From what mom and dad tell me she's basically unconscious now. due to the morphine, so she's not suffering, and probably won't wake up again, and if she does they'll only give her more painkillers to ease her pain that'll put her under again. I think that the best memories to keep of her are from last week (and of course from before that, d'uh), and it may be selfish of me but I don't think I can handle going over and seeing her as she is now. Plus, like I said, I've got a sore throat and I don't want to make things worse on her or any other people over there too.

So, yeah, that's been hard to deal with, more so for my father / aunts and uncles, and I'm home doing odds and ends online and listening to the White Album to take my mind off of things. That and we finally ordered the NHL Centre Ice package for the TV last night, so I can has exhibition hockey, and also got the comparable NFL package thrown in for free, though not really watching that.

Well, waiting in queue to log onto the Lumiel server, seems to be very very very busy today, hehe. But I managed to log on once to make my wife's extra Elyos characters, and made both of our extra Asmodian ones, so all that's left now is to wait until I get on to make my extra Elyos ones. Then it's time to play! Not sure if I will tonight or not, I have a take home test to complete (long story XD) before tomorrow, and a raid in LOTRO at frickin' 11:30pm my time, so gonna be busy with that, but maybe tomorrow for a bit. Tomorrow's usually scheduled for MMO downtime so I dunno, I kinda need that now too, heh. We'll see!

Hope everyone involved with Aion was able to get on to at least make new characters, and maybe even to play for a little bit! :) Also, note to self, make an Aion icon.

[eta] Or, y'know, actually upload and use the one I made awhile back. XD

Aion update!

canadiandiamond: (Let's go!)
After getting home from work last night I got to make two new Aion characters for both [livejournal.com profile] believeitup and myself via the pre-selection process. I kept my two most favourite characters, as seen in the cut below:

Aion pics! )

And there you have it. More to come later, have to run now!

[eta] Also, is it just me or does this make it look like there's going to be way more Asmodians than Elyos characters?

gaming update

Gaming has been pretty darn good lately. Aside from a bit of kin drama, which I can't / won't get into here, it's been a great weekend.

Friday night [livejournal.com profile] believeitup and I got our Aion on, rolling new toons and playing them from scratch up to level 6, I think it was? At any rate, come the live launch of this game we'll both be able to play through the opening areas for both sides with our eyes closed. XD It was fun though, and oh so pretteh. Character creation in this game is a game in and of itself, kinda, or is at least as addicting as playing some games. I made two other characters to completely fill all 8 slots on one server, however I ended up deleting one of them (was kinda meh on him after) and didn't play the other (a ginormous Asmodian Warrior-to-be-Templar).

Saturday was a nice, relaxed day, and I didn't do any gaming at all in the afternoon, instead choosing to watch a movie and surf the net a little. After supper, though, I hopped in LOTRO to make pots and whatnot for that night, as we had a Watcher/turtle raid to do. There was a group going into the hardest instance of the game, but as the wife and I were part of that group last week, we were cycled out this week to let others in. The Watcher fight went ahead as scheduled, and oh boy, we finally got to give him a thrashing. It took two tries but even the first was very smooth up to a spot of bad luck, and the second was silky smooth. We did it without any Captains, even, which is definitely the first time I've done that. And as a result, both [livejournal.com profile] believeitup and I got to complete our Watcher radiance sets. He drops two tokens for armour, usually: either one helm coin and one shoulders coin, or two of each; I needed the helm and my wife needed the shoulders, and he dropped one of each coin. As we were the only mains in the raid who needed those pieces we got them automatically. Yay! Which was great because that fight was kind of a huge albatross to me; I'd only beaten it once since coming to the kin and that was on my Burglar, so that was so, so nice. Then we went on to roll the turtle on our first attempt and lo and behold, but he should drop a 1st age Burglar sword and I was the only Burglar there. XD It's such a fugly sword, omg, you don't even know (I may take caps later), but I kept it because, well, 1st age. Gonna be awhile before my alt sees one of those since my main doesn't even have one from the kin yet, hehe. It ID'd crappily but I'm going to level it for awhile and see what happens just the same. The kin's DN raid went really well, according to our leader, so people seem to be content with that too, which is good.

Today I'm gonna meet [livejournal.com profile] believeitup in Aion for awhile this afternoon before heading back to LOTRO for the Watcher/turtle later tonight. I thiiiiiiink she's locked out on both of her characters, for the turtle for sure, but we'll see what happens. Then the kin continues DN tonight, but I don't expect to be needed for that unless people can't make it for some reason. Either way, it's been a nice, mixed weekend of two different games and relaxing non-game time interspersed, complete with lots of nice loot. :D

Last but not least, here's a few screencaps to share with y'all. Not many, sadly, but a few Aion ones with a couple LOTRO ones thrown in for good measure. :)

So, what a week this has been. So much drama, with work, real life, LOTRO, everything. I won't delve into too much detail, but some of it has been resolved, thankfully. I even managed to (hopefully) settle one of my most contentious files today, which was awesome. I qualify that with hopefully since an offer was made to us, and we have court on Monday to set a trial date if we don't agree, but after talking with my client after the meeting it looks like we'll be taking the offer. It was a stressful and annoying afternoon in meetings but it may have been well worth it.

Not much else to report, really. This week was easier with my court schedule, and next week should be along the same lines, thankfully. Monday is actually a civic holiday, but since I have court in another town and in the city on Monday I won't be getting the holiday. Well. Not the full one, anyway; I'm thinking about sticking around the city after my 12 noon court appearance and catching a matinee of Funny People that afternoon if I can. We'll see though, not gonna worry about that now. Looking forward to getting a lot of sleep and some gaming in this weekend, as it's an Aion beta weekend and there's always things on the go with LOTRO. Though... without getting into specifics here, there's a lot of kin drama lately that I don't know what's on the go with, to tell the truth. I'm hoping to talk to [livejournal.com profile] believeitup about it a bit over the weekend, as well as a few others if I can, but I really don't know people that well in the kin yet to talk about these things. We'll see, I think things can be ok in time, but for now suffice it to say that a lot of backs are raised and things are still a little ugly, heh. I've seen it happen in so many other games before; end game content brings out the worst in people.

I got to play guitar tonight for a bit, which was nice, and by guitar I mean I broke out my Strat and cranked it up for awhile. I was never that good to begin with, but I was preeeetty rusty tonight especially, heh. Thankfully I mainly played things with lots of power chords and didn't embarrass myself too much. I get self conscious since with the AC unit in my window things that loud can be heard on the street below, and while we don't get a lot of traffic, there is a little. There was no booing (that I heard) or rocks thrown, so that's a good thing. :D

That's about it for now. Time keeps on a-rollin', and soon I'll be visiting my darling wife in PA once again, I can't wait. And things are still developing in the employment field, which is a good thing. I've just been feeling lately that... I dunno, that I've been spinning my wheels in general, and a fresh start to a new life is exactly what I need. Here's hoping the chips all fall into place and things can start shaping up in the very near future. :)

So, I'm still loving The State, wow is that stuff funny. I finished season 3 tonight, which isn't as hard as it sounds as the seasons only have 5-6 episodes each and they're just 30 minutes long. Less than that, actually, probably more like 22 minutes as they don't have commercials on the DVDs obviously. So good though, I never realized how funny Thomas Lennon is; I've seen him in so much, mainly small roles in movies, but he's fantastic. With him and Ben Garant I think I'll have to check out Reno 911! sometime in the near future.

This weekend was pretty good, I got in lots of MMO time with my wife. We beta'd more Aion and raided with our kin a bit in LOTRO, though we didn't get to do all that much raiding this week since they try and even out the play time amongst all the players. The weekend before last we got a lot in so this week we had to sit out, or wait as alternates at least. Which is fine, it's only fair, and hopefully this weekend we'll be back in the main rotation again. That's about all I did all weekend, heh, besides read before going to bed and wow is my book going great now. :D

Work is driving me nuts again, surprise surprise. I've been talking to some friends about it and there's some big planning in the works, which may or may not work out any time soon, but for now I'll just say that I've been looking at making a change. How big of one, or when, or even where it'll take place... it's not all completely up in the air, as I have a somewhat specific plan in place, but nothing too solid yet. This doesn't make sense, I know, but I'll post more here about things as they progress. From talking to my friend tonight it looks like it'll take awhile, maybe not until this fall before I can even seriously look into it, but it's a distinct possibility for now unless there's a major change of things from where they currently stand.

And with that, it's off to bed for me. Hope everyone's doing well!

It's been a pleasant weekend so far, and things seem much, much better than they did since my last post, heh.

I had a nice, relaxing Saturday, which saw me make a car rental reservation for my pending September trip to Philadelphia, yay! On top of that I managed to get a really, really good deal on a top of the line GPS system to use when I'm traveling. Last time I used a program on my BlackBerry, which cost a lot more than I thought since I had to pay for 'net usage time, and also my phone kept randomly restarting too, so that didn't help. This new unit, a Magellan 5310, should last for a nice, long time, and will be way cheaper in the long run. So yes, lots of progress on the September trip already, which is great news. :D

After that, [livejournal.com profile] believeitup and I got to do some raiding with our kin in LOTRO. Which... it was fun, overall, but we didn't get as far into the raid as we wanted. As in we didn't even beat the first boss, d'oh. Things just weren't working for some reason, but that's the way it goes, sometimes. Tonight we're going back in again, and hopefully it'll be better. After the raid!fail, we grouped up to do a few runs in another, small instance, and both of us logged out in the wee, small hours of the morning. It was a nice, busy night in LOTRO, which doesn't happen all that often to me lately, so that was a good thing. :) Next week is Aion time, so it was good to get in a lot of LOTRO this weekend since there won't be as much next weekend. The only downside to the night was my stupid computer acting up and locking up on me twice. I also lost my internet connection too, but I restarted the modem and that was fine. I played with the settings a bit in game, and it seemed ok after that, so here's hoping it stays fixed.

Today I got to catch up on sleep and when I got up I downloaded all the new drivers I could for both my video card and my sound card. I tried to update the drivers for the headset / mic, but apparently they're already up to date. Hopefully that and the tweaking I did in game last night will prevent my computer from locking up again. So frustrating because it's a brand new machine, and also because so many other people are waiting on you when you get booted, grr. But yes, we'll see how it goes tonight. Other than that, I've not done much all day. I meant to clean up a little, oops, but instead I've watched tv and puttered around online. It's been nice and relaxing, though, which is the whole point of a weekend, right? Right. And the best part about it is that this is a long weekend, so I get to do more of the same tomorrow. :) I do have some plans, though; may go into the office in the afternoon to catch up on some desk work, and if the boss is there I can talk to him about a few things too, plus I have a few other plans that I won't go into here, but I do plan to be at least a little productive tomorrow.

So, yes. That's my weekend so far, I hope everyone else is having a good one. :D

So, LoudTwitter is down, it seems. I've been taking it easy for awhile, and [livejournal.com profile] believeitup and I spent the weekend playing in the Aion beta. It's so much fun, omg, a fantastic little game. It's been up and running in Korea for awhile now, so the beta is pretty polished, and the best part is you get to fly in it. Very fun!

Other than that, work has been busy and I've been missing my wife. I've gotten a few new movies, one of which I watched tonight, The Ten, which... omg, so so funny. If you like David Wain / Michael Ian Black / Michael Showalter (i.e. Stella) type humour, it's right up your alley. So many actors and actresses in it, and so bizarre, but I loved it. :) Ordered some more movies on eBay because I had some left over money in my PayPal account, including Wet Hot American Summer, which I've seen before but don't own, and a few others that should be good. Good times!

Ok, it's only after 12 but I've been trying to get to bed earlier lately, so off I go. Hope everyone else is doing well!
